Social Media Editor (Project Hire)
Job Summary:
ABC News is hiring a Social Media Editor. The Social Media Editor is a key member of the ABC News Social Team, responsible for presenting ABC News content to audiences across all social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc) and helping maintain best practices that grow total audience engagement.
The candidate will be comfortable optimizing news content across different platforms, working closely with editorial teams. S/he will be comfortable in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, demonstrating impeccable judgment and social acumen.
This is a project position and is anticipated to last one year.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for guiding the voice of ABC News on social media
• Create engaging content, including video, for social platforms
• Assist in development and implementation of a social media strategy to drive followers, engagement, and conversation across all social arms for the news division's flagship accounts
• Share best practices across the ABC News organization on how to optimize content across social platforms
• Partner with data analytics teams to establish and track social media KPIs via regular reports and actionable insights
• Identify new social opportunities and regularly benchmark company performance
• Track and share community feedback on ABC News social channels
Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum two years of experience managing social media accounts
• Comfortable editing video on quick turnaround
• Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to effectively interact with all levels of end users and technical resources
• Familiarity with web analytics products
• Adherence to the highest standards of journalism
• Comfortable working closely with high-profile talent
• Must be available to work on short notice during breaking news situations
Preferred Qualifications:
• Three or more years of experience, at a major news organization, managing social media accounts
Required Education
BA or BS from a four-year accredited college or university
