Producer/Reporter, Transportation (Project Hire)
Job Summary:
ABC NEWS WASHINGTON is hiring a Producer/Reporter (Transportation Beat).
This is a Project position and employment will continue on this Project (at the company's sole discretion), and in no event shall extend past the completion of the Project.
Responsibilities:
ABC News Washington is looking for a Producer/Reporter to join our transportation and regulation team. The Producer/Reporter is tasked with reporting on the airlines, rail, and automobile industries and the agencies regulating them for all ABC News platforms, including digital, television and radio. He/she must perform a variety of editorial and technical duties in a fast-paced, high pressure work environment. This position requires a mix of strong, source-based reporting skills along with an established record of shooting, writing and producing creative, exclusive stories. Travel on short notice is expected and may be necessary for extended periods.
Basic Qualifications:
A minimum of two (2) years journalism experience in a reporting and editorial role is required, as well as a proven interest in the transportation industry. Candidates must be editorially strong, creative and resourceful in the field. The Producer/Reporter must be able to manage daily assignments, breaking news events, and long-term futures reporting. She/he must be skilled in the latest newsgathering technologies. Significant Washington-based reporting experience is highly desirable.
Required Education
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required.
