We are currently recruiting a seasoned SVP of Scripted Series Programming for Lifetime in the Los Angeles office. Reporting into the Head of Programming, this position will oversee the development and production of scripted series for Lifetime, from conception and deal-making to pilot to production supervision and delivery. This position will be a key contributor to the overall scripted series programming strategy. Specifically, this position would:
• Identify and select projects that will continue to help push forward the already evolving brand.
• Aggressively seek out and develop scripts, talent and properties that will help push the boundaries of what is expected by this iconic brand.
• Oversee the script development process by working with writers and producers to review, develop and approve scripts.
• Use your industry network to cultivate strong relationships within the creative community to attract scripts, talent, programming concepts and properties that will heighten the channel's lineup and library.
• Constantly stay on top of potential programming acquisitions and ideas from various sources and options material, paying particular attention to fresh concepts, trending pop culture topics and programming trends which will expand the network's audience base and increase revenues.
• Understand and utilize research to identify opportunities to create programming that strengthens viewership, enhances the brand, attracts advertisers, and broadens the network's appeal to a more diverse demographic.
• Develop protocol for piloting and creative development for network.
• Collaborate and communicate with internal partners such as programming, Studios, research, scheduling, marketing and PR.
• Represent the network at industry or professional groups, meetings and events.
• Manage a team of programmers, as well as outside producers.
• Manage the scripted series programming budget
• Oversee subsequent seasons of successful shows such as UnREAL and Devious Maids
Qualification Requirements
The ideal candidate will have 15 years' experience in development, preferably focused on series in cable or television. In addition, we are seeking a candidate with:
• An established reputation and relationships with studios, independent producers, directors, writers, agents, talent, and the creative community in general.
• Creative storytelling expertise, extensive experience with note giving and have command of writers.
• A strong creative executive presence that possesses a strategic mind-set and has the ability to promote a collaborative environment.
• Experience at producing pilots and series.
• Natural leadership ability with strong interpersonal skills.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills.
