Full Time Job
The Director, Corporate Strategy is responsible for the development of both short and long term strategic initiatives to advance A E Networks. The position offers unique exposure to a wide variety of businesses within the media and entertainment industry. This role will be focused on evaluating emerging industry trends, expansion opportunities, competitive threats and developing recommendations for how A E should react. Additionally, the Director will assess corporate performance improvement opportunities. The Director will report directly to the Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy.
The Director's responsibilities include:
Internal Strategic Planning:
• Analyze competitive industry trends, assess the impact to A E Networks', and develop recommendations to drive improvement of internal business units.
• Cultivate thinking on industry challenges, formulate long term strategies for A E's approach, and manage projects to implement solutions.
• Partner with divisional leadership to discover internal opportunities, assist with growth projects, and transform them into results.
• Develop compelling, persuasive presentations for communicating recommendations to executive management.
• Manage day to day liaising across different business units, providing regular updates to Corporate Strategy and executive leadership.
External Strategic Planning:
• Identify, evaluate and implement external partnerships to bring unique outside perspectives into A E Networks' and test tools that are outside the scope of current business units.
• Develop theses around the future of the media landscape and businesses that A E can expand into.
• Work closely with the Corporate Development team to recommend investment or partnership categories that can provide A E exposure to growing media businesses.
• Provide strategic support for external partnerships being driven by individual departments.
• Keep Senior Management informed about key competitive initiatives and emerging industry trends
Qualification Requirements
• 1-3 years at a top tier consulting firm, investment bank, venture capital or private equity firm
• Strong quantitative skills, advanced knowledge of Excel and Powerpoint, comfortable working with large amounts of data
• Strong problem solving skills including project prioritization, critical thinking and hypothesis development
• Ability to develop cogent arguments and present them concisely to a range of stakeholders, including executives
Educational Requirements • MBA/Equivalent Masters' degree from a top tier school
• Media/Technology sector experience preferred
• International experience working with business units outside of US/Canada
