Job Description THE ROLE: Senior Manager, Commercial Clearance A E Networks has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager working in Commercial Clearance. We are a versatile team with significant opportunity for growth and development. As part of the Legal & Business Affairs department, this position will help ensure advertisements are compliant with A E's policies and federal guidelines, contribute to writing policies and training documents for various categories, and will identify high risk and sensitive issues during content and advertising review while making decisions to best position the Network. MORE ABOUT WHAT YOU'LL DO: Review scripts, storyboards, animatics, rough and final cuts across a variety of content, with a focus on high-risk commercial categories, to ensure A E Networks' compliance with FDA, FTC, and FCC rules as well as internal guidelines and policies. Independently review and evaluate substantiation and make recommendations and decisions based on that analysis. Negotiate and liaise with internal A E Networks Ad Sales executives and external Ad Agencies on advertising submissions. Assign scheduling restrictions for risqué categories of advertising and work with Commercial Operations to schedule around certain series or episodes when appropriate. Research companies and organizations to help determine appropriateness of certain advocacy or ''issue'' campaigns. Review and approve competitive advertising inventory in collaboration with Ad Sales management and subject to production and policy guidelines. Ability to flag legal issues and consult with A E Legal & Business Affairs department. Work with department head to write company policies, one-sheets, and training documents for new product categories using breadth of past experience and industry research. Collaborate with the Technology team to create system solutions for efficiency and auditing. Manage workload for high-risk categories, potentially including political, advocacy, health-related, and emerging categories, etc. Create and deliver presentations to educate Ad Sales and other partners on Commercial Clearance guidelines and best practices. Serve as point person on various other assignments and projects, including Standards and Practices review on live, scripted, and unscripted programming for our Programming Partnership and Enthusiast Blocks, as well as Ad Sales sponsorships, integrations, and custom content across various networks and platforms. Be able to provide coverage for other members of the Commercial Clearance team when necessary. YOUR STORY: BA/BS Degree, JD optional 8 years of experience, preferably at a network (cable or broadcast) working in Advertising Standards & Practices, Commercial Clearance, or relevant experience with a focus on advertising review Proven strong knowledge of regulatory rules and best practices, including FDA, FTC and FCC regulations, indecency, and trade libel Experience evaluating clinical research/trials, consumer perception studies and other forms of advertising claims substantiation Proven experience researching and reviewing content and companies across a variety of commercial categories Excellent analytical, negotiation and oral and written communication skills Experience working on sponsorships, integrations, and paid programming a plus Strong time management and multi-tasking skills Able to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment Must be able to handle confidential information with appropriate sensitivity Team player who can positively contribute to an environment of collaboration and collegiality with colleagues and clients Able to handle difficult situations and/or interactions diplomatically Able to separate personal beliefs and interests to apply the company's guidelines and policies to applicable content Previous management experience a plus Excited to take on new tasks and assignments to help the team while increasing your experience and skillset Compensation Annual Pay Range: $82,250 - $118,000 Annual Incentive Target: 15.00% *The annual/hourly pay range displayed serves as a good faith estimate of the minimum and maximum base pay range for this role. Compensation for the role will be based on a number of different factors such as a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, location, and experience.
