THE ROLE: Sr. Director Global Acquisition Services
The Senior Director of Global Acquisition Services is often the lead day-to-day, and subject matter expert (SME) for providing strategic recommendations, technical feedback and analysis and reporting key information and responding to requests. This role reports to Vice President of Global Acquisition Services.
MORE ABOUT WHAT YOU'LL DO:
As Senior Director, you are in the lead role for the technical, file-based procurement of A E Networks' Domestic and International content. This content consists of Scripted and Non-Scripted episodic content, Original and Acquired movies, Documentaries and Short Form content leveraged across all of A E Networks' distribution platforms. Global Acquisition Services is the primary team within A E Networks that production suppliers around the world rely on for onboarding in to the A E file based content acquisitions portal. Your role includes the initial planning, implementation, monitoring and optimization of content delivery. You will lead the team that is responsible for reviewing post processes, camera selections, instructions and guidelines to ensure production companies follow the A E technical specifications, delivery timelines, and arranging the proper delivery of file based assets suitable to be used by all distribution teams.
While based in Stamford, the Senior Director will work in both the Stamford and New York offices on a weekly basis to engage with our partners, including Network Scheduling and Programming, Legal & Business Affairs and Production & Operations. You must be able to pivot with the needs of the business and apply your ingenuity, industry knowledge and creativity to develop new opportunities and approaches while also taking a long view towards future technological advancements such as 4K, IMF, Dolby, and HDR.
The Senior Director of Global Acquisition Services, must have a firm foundation of technical operations, post-production and Quality Control, theatrical and episodic experience to lead the team in onboarding Post Production Supervisors and Producers around the world to adhere to the A E technical and delivery specifications. The Senior Director is a primary contributor and author of the various technical documents on deliverables. This ensures that the most updated information around our use of new technologies, formats, internal workflows, distribution requirements, etc. are made available to our production suppliers.

Fantastic communication skills a must. As Senior Director of the Global Acquisitions Services team, you must be able to negotiate solutions between all parties that are involved in the creation of the content and those who are dependent on the timely delivery of content. Cross-functional relationship building is a must to ensure alignment on deliverable quality and creative direction. As the team's primary liaison with our partner groups you must be able to present work confidently at all levels including VPs, SVPs and GMs. Comfortable giving/receiving creative feedback and providing strategic guidance to evolve on-boarding process, contract language and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment for self and direct reports.
Coaching and mentorship – With your technical and management experience, your role is one of a mentor and coach to your team and with internal and external partners. With your communication and negotiating skills, you will be able to mentor you team in ''outside the box'' troubleshooting and problem-solving. You are responsible for your team's development, training and retention.
Great business and organizational skills – The Global Acquisition Services team is small but extremely efficient. It is essential that the team keep track of all the content that is expected to deliver at any one time, at all stages of production, for use by the various departments and distribution entities within the A E enterprise. This position requires a spectacular attention to detail, and the ability to come up with innovative ways to efficiently track the multiple projects and deliveries while efficiently communicating details about the content to all parties who are dependent on this information.
Solid technical foundation – The ideal candidate will have hands – on experience in either Post-Production and/or Technical Evaluation processes and can demonstrate basic technological understanding of topics such as, video and audio measurements, closed caption compliance protocols, CALM, etc. Knowledge of file formats, frame-rates, format conversations is needed along with your enthusiasm for keeping up with new technology so that you can quickly and efficiently implement new technical requirements and workflows.
Professional development – you actively stay up to date on technology and developments through self-education, industry events and company-sponsored workshops and training sessions.
More about you
• 10-15 years in the technical procurement of content for a cable or broadcast network
• 5-10 years of hands-on technical experience in Post-Production and/or Technical Evaluation / QC.
• 5-10 years of experience leading a fast-paced team.
• Collaborative and team oriented approach
• Extremely detail oriented and solution oriented.
• Bachelor's degree in Television Production, Communications or equivalent.
• Computer Skills: Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
