POSITION SUMMARY
A&E is seeking a dynamic PR executive who will be responsible for the development and implementation of effective public relations strategies, publicity campaigns and execution resulting in positive media (print, electronic and internet) placement both on and off the television page for A&E and its programming and initiatives, as well as confronting strategic and competitive issues. This position requires the ability to interact with senior-level management on all brand strategies, provide counsel and ideas to enhance and expand A&E in the media.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and execute programming publicity campaigns for series, specials and general programming, which include screenings, special events, special theme weeks, and community outreach programs.
Plan and execute Upfront releases and other network-centric releases in conjunction with VP and network executives.
Work closely with talent, in-house and outside producers to develop story angles and positioning of key talent in the media
Write program publicity PR plans, press releases, media alerts, etc. to be used both internally and externally
Support A&E programming department's efforts by creating local, regional and national press opportunities that garner broadcast and print results.
Pitch program stories and conduct follow-up with press for column/feature story placement
Expand and maintain working relationships with trade, consumer and electronic media
Qualification Requirements 8 years experience in television program publicity, Public/Media Relations.
Must have background in television – network or cable news and/or entertainment publicity
Knowledge of pop culture and current events is essential
Proven ability to work with senior management
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
