POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of International Finance will be responsible for the accounting, consolidation and financial reporting related to the Company's international operations. This position is responsible for timely and accurate reporting while making sure all activities are conducted in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), strong internal controls exist and industry practices are followed.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Accounting & Financial Reporting:
•Assist with the monthly close process
•Conduct close meetings with each manager having budgetary responsibility
•Prepare written summary of monthly operating results compared to budget / forecast and present results at monthly departmental close meeting
•Perform detailed balance sheet analysis each month and ensure accounts are properly reconciled, present at review meeting
•Attend and present the International Balance Sheet at the monthly Balance Sheet review meeting
•Support operating teams to enable them to accomplish established goals and objectives; this would include finding creative ways to track, review and analyze expenses while exercising sound prudent decision making
•Produce the monthly International ''black book'' which houses the monthly financial statements, email and hard copy to the appropriate senior staff
Consolidation:
•Review Italian subsidiary numbers as submitted, translate into US$ from local currency, analyze numbers and obtain explanations for variances, tie-out and summarize results
•Review Asian subsidiary numbers as submitted, analyze numbers and obtain explanations for variances, tie-out and summarize results
•Oversee the compilation of Russian operating results and distribute analysis and commentary to senior executives
•Review monthly reporting from JVs and record equity income/(loss) while analyzing variances
•Ensure intercompany balances zero-out and parties agree with reported intercompany balances
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis:
•Manage and coordinate the creation, reporting and review of annual budgets and forecasts
•Partner with all budget managers and international CFO's to build budgets and forecast
•Create written variance analysis and present to senior management in a clear concise manner
•Ensure the forecasts are accurate and account for all new business goals and objectives
•Create different slices of the forecast (i.e. by legal entity, territory, etc.)
Revenue, Billing & Collection:
•Monitor the process by which the company budgets, records, bills and collects revenue; this process should be clean, accurate and timely for all revenue streams (O&O, JV, licensee, syndication, trademark and digital)
•Ensure accrued and deferred revenues are reconciled to the general ledger on a monthly basis and analyzed to ensure revenue is recognized in the correct accounting period
•Monthly review with Corporate Accounting the latest receivables aging schedule and assist with designing strategies to collect cash; give guidance to the Director of Revenue Planning and the AR Specialist with regard to all accounting and financial reporting matters
Audits:
•Provide assistance with the various audits A&E International is subject to (i.e. company audit, UK office audit, and UK holding company); tremendous coordination and communication is needed between divisions and departments within A&E and also the 'Big 4'auditing firm
Special Projects & Requests:
•Work on special projects and requests as needed.
Required Experience:
REQUIREMENTS:
•Strong analytical and communication skills, experience with full P&L responsibility, and strong knowledge of accounting; need to be able to review financial results (profit/ loss, balance sheets and statements of cash flows) and effectively communicate issues and explanations for variances against budgets / forecasts to senior management; candidate should have practical knowledge of internal controls and implementation of policies and procedures with a goal of continuous process improvement; good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
•Minimum of 5 to 7 years' related experience with a minimum of 3 years public accounting experience; strong financial reporting experience relating to joint ventures, consolidated groups, multinational and multidivisional companies
•Working knowledge of SAP desired
•Ability to speak a foreign language desired
•Media & Entertainment experience
•'Big 4' or large regional firm work experience desired
Required Education:
•BA/ BS in Accounting; MBA desired but not required
•CPA or working towards CPA
