Data (Analyst) Scientist
The Data Scientist is a technical contributor who brings hands-on knowledge of media data and all phases in building and maintaining large-scale cloud-based Data Science forecasting models with Nielsen AMRLD and STB audience data, audience engagement data (social, web, email, mobile, etc.), and other consumer data. They are also a data-driven analyst with extensive media data experience wrangling, analyzing, and normalizing data, and building databases in S3 using Python/SQL, as well as writing queries on large and complex data sets for immediate analysis.
The Data Scientist is responsible for executing the full-scope of advanced analytic techniques on audience viewership and other engagement data with the objectives of creating inferences, predictions, and prescriptive recommendations for improvements to business processes, and the metrics to monitor those improvements.
As this role will define data science opportunities that will push our linear and digital opportunities forward, this position requires a strong command of techniques and algorithms necessary to build sophisticated predictive Data Science models, as well as a demonstrated practical ability to determine where to invest time, synthesize actionable findings across diverse assignments, and present these findings to an audience with varying levels of background in analytics. This role requires partnering closely with a team of business analysts & data engineers leading our strategy to build and implementation of machine learning models for predictive and prescriptive analytics, including recommendation engines. The successful candidate will implement complex AWS-based Data Science projects with a focus on collecting the models' data, running tests, and tweaking the models to turn information into meaningful insights.
What You Will Be Doing:
Your focus will be designing, building, training, and maintaining data science models for predictive and prescriptive advanced audience viewership data to satisfy Use Cases for the business. You will be using your experience in advanced statistics, Machine Learning/AI, Tensor Flow, Cluster Analysis, Regression Analysis, Random Forrest Analysis, Decision Trees, Combining multiple trees into an Ensemble model, GBM/xgboost models, calculating WAPE and R-squared values, etc. to build linear forecasting models will AMRLD and other audience viewership and engagement data.
You will make an impact by using your passion for data and analysis to generate actionable insights that we will use to improve how we serve our clients. You will plan and lead the execution of the data science analytics life-cycle, leveraging significant experience in leading this type of work in previous roles. You will also survey varied data sources in relational databases, Hadoop, flat files, and external sources for analytic relevance. You are experienced in executing the full-scope of advanced analytic techniques, performing problem formulation, requirements analysis, and planning. You will be responsible for data surveying, profiling, pre-processing, and modelling data management for validation (e.g. holdout, cross-validation). You will also design Python/R/SQL queries to parse and extract data as needed, and present findings in Tableau, D3, etc.
You will be the champion/challenger of algorithms' execution and selection and be responsible for interpretation of results – for both causal inferences and predictive effectiveness. You will synthesize appropriate recommendations for action and changes, and present findings in PPT, Tableau and D3, suggesting actions and changes to a broad audience while managing follow-ups and execution. Utilizing various Cloud-based ML platforms, including AWS, you will
build programs to educate stakeholders as to how best to leverage and engage data resources, helping us become a more data-driven organization.
You will also ensure that the reporting needs of our internal teams, executive management are efficiently met. You will manage the relationship between data services and data engineering, ensuring strong communications and collaboration that promotes growth.
