This is a Part Time Unpaid Internship
A&M/Octone Records is a record label founded on the principles of artist development and establishing career musicians. We are home to Maroon 5, Flyleaf, K’NAAN, Hollywood Undead, Paper Tongues and more developing artists. Located in NYC’s Union Square, the company is a joint venture with Interscope Geffen A&M Records and is distributed by Universal Music Distribution.
Interns will receive hands-on experience in every department in order to learn all facets of the music industry. The internship will focus on developing necessary music industry skills in Marketing, Sales, New Media, A&R, Graphic Design and more. Responsibilities will range from coordinating promotional mailings to developing Sales and Marketing opportunities, answering phones to designing websites, researching consumer metrics to validating publicity opportunities and more. The chance to participate in marketing meetings and all-staff meetings will be available as a means of furthering your development. As the program progresses and a general understanding of how the label works is achieved, interns will have the opportunity to specialize in areas that they are most interested in.
As we rely heavily on our interns, we encourage them to be in the office as much as possible, but are willing to accommodate all schedules as much as possible. We operate in an open office environment, providing a unique, invaluable opportunity to absorb how a record label works as a whole and how all of our departments interrelate (Please note we do not offer engineering opportunities). All interns will be invited to attend artist shows, showcases and office get-togethers when available. Interns must also be able to receive academic credit and have housing in or around the NYC area in order to qualify.
