TIFF, a vibrant not-for-profit arts organization, is hiring for the contract position of:
Concessions Attendant
Concessions Attendants will maintain a high standard of servicing at our concessions stand and responding to internal and external stakeholders food and beverage requests by carrying out our established Visitor Experience Departmental Service Measures. The position of Concession Attendant is a contract part-time position reporting to the Manager, Concessions. We are looking for four new attendants to join our small team.
Responsibilities
• Sell snacks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages; popping popcorn; brewing coffee.
• Provide an excellent and personal service experience to all TIFF Bell Lightbox visitors.
• Ensure cleanliness of food service/storage areas and adherence to food sanitation standards.
• Operate Point Of Sale system for reconciliation of all transactions.
• Maintain knowledge of TIFF Bell Lightbox, its programming, events, and facilities.
• Organize, clean and prepare the concessions stand for scheduled events and films. Be aware of busy events or films and prepare for them in advance.
• Liaise with Concessions Stand Leads to execute concessions orders and presentation. This includes preparing special orders for events.
• Execute mobile concessions cart operations as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
• Open and flexible availability, with an emphasis on weekends and evenings; must also be available to work on all statutory holidays.
• Must have open availability in September for full time hours.
• A minimum of one year of experience in a food & beverage or retail position.
• Able to communicate fluently in English; second language is an asset.
• Must hold an Ontario Smart Serve certificate.
• Experience working in a fast paced customer service environment.
• Proficient in cash handling and organization skills.
• Comfortable working with hot food preparation equipment.
• Will be required to lift and carry items up to 35lb boxes.
• Previous experience with sale possessing in Point Of Sale system an asset.
• Ability to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment with long stretches standing up.
• Interest in film, non-profits, arts and culture is considered an asset.
Contract Dates
• Monday, March 5th, 2018 – Thursday, May 17th, 2018.
