Arts & Entertainment Organizer
The Public Interest Network is looking for an Arts & Entertainment Organizer. The arts, music, and entertainment industry can be an incredible ally in creating social change, using the ''celebrity megaphone'' to help win campaigns and build the profile of our organization. The Arts & Entertainment Organizer will work with The Public Interest Network staff to identify opportunities to engage members of the arts, music, and entertainment community in such actions as campaign endorsements and sign-on letters; news conferences, lobby days and fundraisers; and video projects like US PIRG'sMad Fast Trains video with Mad Men stars Vincent Kartheiser and Rich Sommer which can be found on youtube.
The Organizer will take on responsibility and oversight for all our entertainment outreach, and will be responsible for recruiting and overseeing staff and volunteers.
For more than 40 years, organizations in The Public Interest Network have been taking on powerful interests on behalf of the American public, working to win concrete results for our health and well-being. We are a network that shares a vision, a set of core values, and a strategic approach to change. With a strong staff across the country, we stand up to powerful special interests on critical issues. Because of the laws and other policies we've won, people are buying healthier and safer products, getting more of our energy from the sun and the wind, drinking cleaner water and breathing cleaner air. The Organizer will build media visibility and promote our issues with the entertainment industry.
Qualifications:
This position is open to organizers with only 1 or 2 cycles of election or campaign experience. Ideal applicants will be excellent writers and communicators, have drive and ambition, are smart and strategic thinkers, are passionate about standing up to special interests, and will be excited by our work and vision.
