The Documentary Group (Cartel Land, Girl Rising) is looking for eager and enthusiastic interns to assist the development team at our New York office.
Position: 2-3 days/week for 3-4 months starting in January. Daily lunch/travel stipend + college credit where applicable.
Internships are open to college students and recent graduates interested in developing documentary films and series from the ground up. A major or minor in film, television, or journalism is a plus. Strong research and writing skills are a must. Interns will learn about the research, development, and pitching process as well as gain insight into funding and distribution. As an intern, you'll assist the team with:
-Story research for projects in active development
-Coverage of relevant books and articles
-Scouting for stories, characters, literary properties/IP, and pitching new projects
-Occasional production and post for sizzle reels
-Researching potential funders and distributors
-Finding images/archival for designing pitch decks
Appropriate candidates should:
-Have an interest in documentary filmmaking
-Have impeccable research and writing skills
-Be able to work well in both a team environment and on independent projects
