Graduate Data Analytics Intern, Sony Pictures Television – Spring 2018
OVERVIEW:
Sony Pictures Television Research provides insights, analysis, and advisory across all lines of business. With a global team of over 40 professionals located in 5 offices around the world, we seek to transform the way we do business through data-driven approaches that deliver value to our clients and for the company.
Our team builds analytical solutions to support the global television division of Sony Pictures. We measure, analyze, and forecast the worldwide performance of TV shows on linear and digital video platforms to gain deep insights that influence the production and distribution of our content. We are looking for a candidate to make a major impact by helping us answer our most complex business questions and spearhead our growing data science practice with the support of a world-class team.
This position will work on the department's data analytics program. Your primary role will be to expand our data science practice by developing methods and models that help our businesses make smarter and more informed decisions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Design statistical models leveraging internal and external data sets to predict performance of content
• Apply the appropriate tools, techniques, and data available to address key business questions
• Conduct exploratory analysis to identify trends and opportunities across the television landscape
• Share insights and implications of findings with senior leadership in the form of presentations, white papers, and written communication
• Influence department strategy and data science roadmap
• Partner with business and technical teams to prioritize analysis needs
• Opportunities to network, receive mentorship, and gain exposure to many parts of the business
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Currently enrolled in a Master's degree program 2 years of experience in an analytical role dealing with large data sets
• BA/BS in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or other quantitative field
• Proficiency in data mining and statistical modeling
• Fluency in R or other statistical package and ability to interpret results
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau is a plus
• Possess strong analytical aptitude, intellectual curiosity, and ability to work autonomously and collaboratively to solve problems

The Sony Pictures Entertainment Internship program offers a unique opportunity to work alongside the teams that come together to create movies, TV shows, and other great experiences. These seasonal paid assignments provide meaningful and productive work that allow you to build your resume, experience and develop your skills further. You will be provided with challenging tasks, real-world experience, valuable networking opportunities, and many educational and social opportunities while on the lot.
This Spring internship is from Tuesday, January 9th or Wednesday, January 17th through May 4, 2018. All candidates must be able to work 10-29 hours a week with respect to their school schedule and be enrolled in an accredited degree program for the entire duration of their internship.
