Management Accountant, TV Distribution EMEA (Maternity Cover)

CONTEXT:
SPE's Television Distribution finance department is currently looking for a Management Accountant to join their London based team on a 6 month limited term basis.
This position is to provide maternity cover for another employee, and the successful candidate will be responsible for the financial and management accounting of multiple TV Distribution companies.
The scope of responsibility covers accounting, reporting and AP management for the non-scripted format business, producing TV Distribution overheads budgets and forecasts and monitoring actuals against them, and supporting the TV Distribution billing team.
As part of a small Regional Office finance function, this role needs to adapt to changing requirements and varying requests from multiple stakeholders for example, Home Office finance, Deloitte, Tax and VAT teams and VP of Finance. The overall role objective is to assist and support the Director of Financial Control.
Core Responsibilities Include:
• 15%: Preparation of management accounts for SPT UK Rights, CPCL and Colgems for review by Director of Financial Control; month-end accounting and reporting for SPT UK Rights and related companies: preparation and posting of revenue accrual entries for SPT UK Rights, balance sheet recs not done by GBS
• 20%: Overhead budgeting and monitoring: preparation of overhead budgets for EMEA sales and marketing teams, and monthly monitoring of overheads and investigation of variances with finance managers
• 5%: Corporation tax: Preparation of US tax packs as required by Home Office
• 5%: AP: Create and maintain vendors in Ariba; invoice coding; deal with AP queries from GBS
• 5%: Participations: Check participation statements against standing data for review by Director of Financial Control
• 5%: Audit: Produce all ITF deliverables for Deloitte and PwC and liaise with auditors; 2 weeks/year
• 5%: Cash: Manage SPT UK Rights JPM USD cash balance; approve and release JPM payments for SPT UK Rights and Colgems
• 5%: VAT: Provide VAT and business activity reports as required by VAT team
• 10%: Executive production and TV Production Development Fund: Maintain executive production records; prepare for monthly executive production meeting; review cost recovery billing; maintain records of Development Fund spending
• 25%: Other support for Director of Financial Control - this role involves a lot of ad hoc project support
Qualifications
and/or Experience Required
This is a graduate-level position. Suitable candidates will have previous experience in a similar role and be at minimum part-qualified accountants with experience of SAP or other accounting systems.
They will also have the following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, to a high standard of English, along with excellent analytical and organisational skills and attention to detail
• Possess a well organised and efficient approach combined with the capability to follow through work on own initiative to completion
• Possess the ability to influence at all levels and gain immediate creditability across the business
• Flexible approach as well as possessing the ability to cope well under pressure, multi-task, prioritise effectively and efficiently to ensure work is carried out accurately, in a timely manner
• Ability to work with minimum supervision and make administrative decisions based on a broad understanding of relevant policies and/or operational requirements, while also knowing when to escalate issues higher
• Establish and confidently cultivate positive working relationships internally across departments and externally
• Prioritise effectively and efficiently to ensure work is carried out accurately whilst adhering to deadlines
• Highly proficient and proven level of IT skills including Excel, Access Dimensions and SAP
• Knowledge of SAP desirable
• Knowledge of current UK GAAP and US GAAP desirable
• A highly polished, professional and motivated individual with the enthusiasm, resilience and drive to make things happen
• Must be flexible and proactive with a 'can-do' attitude and a dynamic approach to work
• Ability to demonstrate initiative and a creative approach to all aspects of the role
• Conscientious and focused, with an ability to work well under pressure, multi-task, prioritise and respond quickly to change
• Strong team player with strong interpersonal, management and communication skills and the ability to forge solid working relationships
