Title: Manager, Employee Assistance Program & Mental Skills
Department: SF Giants Medical Baseball
Reports To: Director, Employee Assistance Program
Languages: Bilingual; English and Spanish
Location: Scottsdale, AZ (preferred)
Travel: Some travel required, approximately 30%-40%
Status: Exempt, Full Time (40 hours per week)
Position Summary:
The Giants are seeking a full-time, bilingual, Manager, Employee Assistance Program & Mental Skills with 5 years of experience in supporting employee assistance programs. This role will be responsible for supporting the Employee Assistance Program Director in providing a variety of supportive services and assistance to players and staff. A fundamental understanding of Latino culture, community, and family dynamics is a must-have for this role. The ideal candidate must possess a strong sense of empathy, creativity, and flexibility, which are all key in dealing with the unique challenges in the world of baseball.
Position Responsibilities:
• Work with the Giants' organization to enhance EAP services with a primary focus on working with Latin players and staff in collaboration with the EAP Director and the Coordinator of Educational and Cultural Development.
• Support the EAP Director in promoting program services for Baseball Operations: Players, Coaches, Scouts, Athletic Trainers, Certified Strength and Conditioning Staff, Front Office Baseball Operations Staff, and retired players.
• Enhancement of network of clinicians to provide the highest level of excellence to serve the organization's needs.
• Confidential individual assessments as needed for each employee, their spouse/partner, and any dependent children living in the employee's home. These visits will be to assess and resolve the problems generating the referral.
• Case management and follow-up- for each referral; coordinate referrals within the parameters of employee's insurance coverage if long term treatment proves necessary.
• Coordinate drug testing for minor league players and staff in compliance with Major League Baseball's Drug Prevention and Treatment Program policies.
• Develop and participate in Spring Training and Conditioning/Mini Camp Programs to both Major and Minor League players, trainers, and coaching staffs.
• Supervise the Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUE) process for both major and minor league players. Organizing player/doctor appointments and follow up keeping the medical department and head athletic trainer updated as needed.
• Conduct orientation sessions for baseball operations personnel in order to present the employee assistance program as a management tool.
• Actively participate in professional development activities to maintain appropriate licensure and EAP professional credentials.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
• A Master's degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, psychology or related field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience.
• Demonstrated fluency in Spanish and English required.
• Professional Clinical Licensure and Certified Employee Assistance Professional credential (CEAP) preferred.
• Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the employee assistance profession.
• Experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; creativity is a must.
• Exceptional ability to communicate, build relationships, and establish meaningful rapport.
• Strong record-keeping, documentation, and case management skills.
• Ability to anticipate and identify complex problems and trends, and analyze information to evaluate options, recommend solutions and initiate programs/projects.
• Strong judgment in safeguarding confidential or sensitive information; must maintain objectivity and respect the balance between the organization and the individual.
• Flexibility to travel to accommodate the needs of players and staff in various affiliate team locations.
