Full Time Job
The Network Engineer is part of the Technology and Engineering group and reports to the Manager, Network Engineering. This position participates in creating and maintaining complex technology systems by leading the design, planning, implementation and support of network systems and associated ancillary technologies. These systems support the Company’s live television production, post production, and enterprise-wide business activities as well as the digital media platforms.
• Anticipate trends, analyze capacity requirements and assist in the investigation and evaluation of Television and IP technology solutions
• Design and plan mission critical systems that power the Pac-12 Networks that are scalable and sustainable
• Configure, implement/install and optimize all systems
• Proactively monitor all critical systems’ performance and help develop DR strategies
Secondary Responsibilities
• Assist with maintenance of computer networking systems and technology, provide knowledge transfer to maintenance staff and ensure documentation is accurate and shared
• Automate repetitive tasks wherever and whenever possible
• Act as first-line point of escalation for the Maintenance Engineers and key users
• Other duties as assigned by the Group or Department management
Basic Qualifications/Requirements
• Three to five years of prior work experience in a media or IP technology environment
• Degree or Technical Certificate in electronics, computer science, computer networking or related field
• Experience with client/server system architectures and back-end database systems
• Working knowledge of the operation and maintenance of data networks and servers applicable to television broadcasting, broadcast related platforms and/or file-based workflows
• Some overnight travel may be required
Preferred Qualifications/Requirements
• Familiarity and experience working in a Linux environment with an understanding of Python programming language
• Appropriate certification (CCNA, CCENT, CCNP or CCDA) as evidence of base-level skill set
• Experience in support of alternative media distribution technologies including VOD, streaming, on-demand and web technologies
