Full Time Unpaid Internship
The intern will develop front-end (Javascript, HTML, and CSS) and backend (Python) software for embedded graphics, standalone projects, reporting tools, and analysis. Additionally, the intern will participate in the design process to determine the best ways to use technology to bring stories to life on the internet.
Projects Goals for intern
• Publication-quality software development for short term and long term stories
• Design and strategy for multiple platforms
• Data analysis and exploration for reporting
Qualifications
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work quickly, accurately, and under deadline.
• Either:
• Experience with either fundamental frontend web technologies (HTML, CSS, Javascript) or backend programming languages (Python or similar), or both.
• Strong web and social media design skills.
• Data analysis and visualization skills a plus.
A digital portfolio is required for consideration. For candidates with a software development background, this should include a Github profile with personal projects. (If you’re a developer and can’t share your work on Github because of academic rules, please let us know in your cover letter). For candidates with a design background, this should be a personal portfolio site. Please include links in your resume or cover letter.
