The purpose of the LADF Associates Program is to further support the mission of LADF by assisting with fundraising efforts, actively engaging the local community and expanding the reach of the impact made by the organization in the Los Angeles area.
The LADF Associates Program is a highly competitive, paid season long program designed to provide college and graduate students both professional and personal growth in a nonprofit sports setting. Alongside LADF's staff, participants work across all aspects of LADF's work, gaining insight into its programs, marketing, fundraising and charitable giving activity. Applicants will also specialize in one discipline during the program.

Job Functions:
Dodgers Dreamfields - The goal of the Dodgers Dreamfields program is to provide a safe place for youth to conduct positive recreational activity in their very own neighborhoods. In partnership with corporations, foundations and local municipalities, LADF builds and refurbishes baseball fields in underserved communities. Dodgers Dreamfields contribute to both community development and youth development, providing youth the opportunity to learn and play the game of baseball while building character and instilling important life lessons. To date LADF has completed 47 Dodgers Dreamfields, with a long-term goal of completing 50. Associates will:
• Assist with site visits to monitor the condition of the field and surrounding locations
• Establish relationships with local park directors
• Conduct qualitative and quantitative research to determine the success of the Dreamfields in the surrounding neighborhood
• Coordinate community service events and field maintenance clinics.
Dodgers RBI - Dodgers RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) is a baseball/softball youth development program that simultaneously aims to: increase participation in the sport and use sport participation as an engagement tool to increase access to education, literacy, health, wellness, and recreational resources in some of Los Angeles' most underserved communities. Dodgers RBI is bigger than baseball and focuses on youth character development as it engages communities and families in programming. Associates will:
• Communicate with location directors, collecting schedules and rosters
• Ensure the Dodgers RBI league is implemented properly
• Assist with events, marketing/media, league administration, program measurement, evaluation, and sponsorship.
Fundraising - Throughout the season LADF conducts numerous fundraising activities and events to raise funds to support our programs and charitable giving. Associates will:
• Conduct system management support, printer technical support for 50/50 raffle during games
• Conduct set up/breakdown, reconciliation, inventory updates for LADF silent auctions Assist with event prep, mailers, set-up/break down for the LADF Gala
• Assist with marketing, run booths, and events support for the LADF Run
• Conduct event prep, set-up, and break down of the Youth Baseball Camp
• Assist in the development of new opportunities for LADF.
• Perform related duties as assigned
• LA Reads- To help address the literacy crisis in Los Angeles and get children excited about reading, LA Reads is a literacy campaign which includes a literacy challenge, ''Dodgers Reading Champions''. LA Reads and ''Dodgers Reading Champions'' are designed to motivate youth to read and help them build a lifelong love of reading. Associates will:
• Assist with program activation events
• Help with marketing outreach and administration
Strategic Partnerships and Grants- LADF engages in Strategic Partnerships, large scale partnerships, with organizations whose missions are directly aligned. LADF invests significant funds and resources into these Strategic Partnerships and works closely with their staff to create unique activations and works on ongoing marketing of the program and partnership. Additionally, through a small grants program, we seek to support programs or projects aligned with our cornerstone programs and our pillars. Grants are awarded three times a year and typically range from $5,000 - $15,000. Associates will:
• Manage grant database, including check requests, and check inventory
• Assist with site visits to perspective grantees
• Prepare grant committee agendas
• Conduct set up/break down of grantee events, such as suite nights and pre-game activities
• Develop ongoing relationships with grantees and strategic partners
• Marketing and Operations - LADF produces marketing collateral and employs a number of techniques, including social media to raise awareness of our work to fans, season-ticket holders, sponsors and the general public. While LADF works with outside consultants to maintain sound legal, accounting, etc., key administrative processes and systems are in place internally to ensure smooth and efficient operations and coordination of the office. Associates will:
• Assist in developing marketing collateral
• Support website maintenance
• Aid in the development of social media strategies and campaigns
• Catalogue written and digital media
• Maintain and track inventories and LADF database
• Assist in event logistics, meeting setups, game suite preparation
• From time to time accounting assistance will be requested
• Additional responsibilities include office mailings, phone calls, ticket requests and filing
• Special projects and administrative tasks for LADF's executive director
Basic Requirements/Qualifications:
• Must be able to work the majority of the 2018 season (late February - October)
• Must be willing to work daytime, evening, weekends, and holidays based on the game schedule and LADF events. Note: LADF will work with candidates on individual schedules
• Availability to work a minimum of 40 Dodger home games during the season preferred
• Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organizational skills and skills in exercising sound judgement
• Must possess highly interpersonal skills and have the ability to multitask and meet deadlines
• Must be proficient in Microsoft programs
• Must have reliable transportation
• Must be able to work a minimum of 15-20 hours per week
• College and graduate students preferred
