OVERALL SUMMARY:
This position is an introduction and overview of Business Affairs at a premium cable studio/network. The Business Affairs Intern will have interaction within the Business Affairs, HBO Films, Miniseries and Cinemax departments. The intern will be exposed to above-the-line (i.e. actor, writer, producer and director) deals and contracts as well as options for underlying rights.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Intern will assist the Business Affairs Manager with administrative duties such as filing, drafting of correspondence, interoffice memos and compiling information for deal charts.
In addition to those duties, the Intern will also offer support to two Executive Assistants with filing, scanning and distribution of confidential documents and the maintenance of Series deal charts.
This intern will also be responsible for entering actor, director, writer and producer deals into a database, creating binders and running documents to our Finance department
SKILLS:
Candidates should be detail oriented, organized and enthusiastic. They must possess a good work ethic and understand the sensitive nature of the information they will be handling on a daily basis. The ability to read legalese is a plus, but not a requirement.
Due to the exposure of highly sensitive information, a first year law student or prelaw undergraduate (preferably junior or senior) is preferred.
REQUIREMENTS:
The summer program runs for 10 weeks from June to August. Eligible students must be rising juniors or seniors enrolled in a degree granting university or college. A minimum 3.0 GPA. Able to work in Los Angeles and secure housing accommodations (HBO will not cover the cost of housing). Passionate about Film, TV, Media & Entertainment. Prior internship experience a plus. All internship positions are paid.
