Full Time Job
The Product Director (D-Play) will have ownership of the Digital Player across Europe for Discovery’s portfolio of content. They will be responsible for developing propositions and applications across mobile and other connected devices. The successful candidate will have ownership of a P&L, be responsible for growing the user and subscription base and monetising the various applications.
Responsibilities
• Work closely with the Senior Product Manager and wider team to define scope, agree critical success factors, identify deliverables and benefits, and understand trade-offs.
• Create, update and manage PMP/ RFP's for the purpose, nature and scope of the project and secure the mandate to proceed into shaping the project.
• Develops and tracks project plans for individual tracks of work (as part of a larger project plan). Drive project delivery through effective use of internal and client status meetings.
• Form and manage the project team with appropriate specialist skills (UX, Tech, QA etc.)
• Effectively and efficiently manage and deliver the project within the agreed time, cost and quality constraints to enable delivery of the agreed outputs and/or benefits.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, address issues, and deliver effective communication strategies.
• Maintains awareness of the current industry environment that shapes opportunities for client solutions (i.e. news events, trends, mergers, etc.)
• Clarifies and communicates project objectives and success criteria
• Plans and executes client workshops. Develops relationships with appropriate client stakeholders. Provides day-to-day contact for client on track related communications
Requirements
• Extensive experience working on complex digital projects/programmes ideally within a European remit
• A recognised project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, APM)
• Working knowledge of the project lifecycle, products, techniques and methodologies
• Previous experience of managing and leading projects successfully (including leading teams, budgeting, planning, quality management, problem solving, reporting, managing risk)
• Strong stakeholder management and leadership capabilities,
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem solving, negotiating, influencing, facilitation, organizational, prioritization, decision making, and conflict resolution skills
• Solid understanding of project management methodology including the ability to identify and resolve issues, manage risk, develop detailed work plans and specifications, perform resource allocations and run team meetings
• Strong knowledge of software development life cycles, web technologies, web development processes and the delivery of solutions with creative and engineering components
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proven mentoring, and team-building skills
• Ability to solve problems with keen instincts and organizational experience
• Ideally with previous experience with OTT or within the media/entertainment
• Strong proven experience within the digital environment
