Associate Producer - Researcher

This is a full time position with a non-profit organization, and primarily a Research based job. You must thrive on digging deeper, finding the full story, and paying attention to detailed accuracy in statistics and facts. Must not get discouraged or easily give up, and knows that the phrase ''I couldn't find anything'', is a drastic last resort.

Responsibilities:
• Report directly to the Supervising Producer to develop video concepts in coordination with other departments.
• Oversee detailed research, including facts, statistics, casting for interview subjects, and video/still assets.
• Cultivate extensive contact lists for casting
• Finding good stories that fit the story we are trying to tell.
• Kindly persuasive to get people to say yes and keeping track of the various asks to know when to follow up and how hard to push.
• Handle preliminary outreach and pre-phone interviews with potential subjects.
• Write scripts and edit team members' scripts
• Write Interview Questions
• Update schedules for multiple, simultaneous, projects on tight deadlines
• Relay creative direction and notes as assigned by Supervising Producer and Executive Producer
• Maintain records archives for each project
• Understand and support rights and clearances for all research, in collaboration with legal team.
• Fact checking for videos (stats, numbers, names, etc)
• Coordinate delivery schedules with editors
• Obtain materials releases, legal clearances, music clearances, footage/photo clearances
• QC with eye on facts
• Provide Administrative support for Production team
- Creating Calendars
- Updating databases
- Organizing databases
• Stay up to date on latest news with articles and press releases on subject matter
• General understanding of approach by social justice groups to topic
• Assigning tasks to interns - being able to manage others.
Pre-production/Production Duties:
• Locations: search/lock/clearance
• Travel: Arrangements, schedule and book
• Additional local and remote crew: search and scheduling
• Production releases
• Footage wrangling from freelance shooters: making sure all footage/drives are received in house and entered into system by POST
Desired Qualifications:
• 2-3+ years work experience in a role requiring extensive research and organization
• Highly organized
• Familiarity with Fair Use
• Strong problem solver
• Interest or background in physical production a plus, but not mandatory
• Ability or background in editing a plus, but not mandatory
• Demonstrated strong knowledge and interest in social justice issues and politics
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word- Office 365, Google Docs, and Basecamp
• Strong interpersonal skills
• High journalistic standards for research and vetting facts and casting.
• Strong writing skills
