Part Time Job
The City has an excellent part-time opportunity in the Cultural Affairs Department to work in the theatre at the Civic Arts Plaza. Under the direction of the Technical Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing maintenance of all the audio and video equipment and the execution of audio designs for productions presented at the Civic Arts Plaza.
Primary responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Technical Director -
• Assist with the oversight of the audio operations of the City's Cultural Affairs Department Technical Division
• Provide lead direction to stage workers in the setup, operation of, and taking down of proprietary audio stage setups
• Oversee the maintenance of and is responsible for the readiness of all Civic Arts Plaza audio and video equipment
• Participate in phone and/or email advance conversations in preparation for upcoming productions
• Coordinate with electrics and carpentry heads to collectively and efficiently manage the stage crew
• Assist road production managers and technical staff to ensure production is executed as intended
• Operate the house audio control board for visiting productions as required
• In the absence of road personnel, establish an audio design adequate to meet the immediate needs of the presentation
• Train other stage technicians to function as audio head in his or her absence
The ideal candidate should possess:
• Three years of experience in the maintenance of audio systems and equipment associated with the operation of live performing arts venues
• Two years of live audio mixing experience
• A working knowledge of the basic principles of audio signal flow
• Proficiency in the operation of digital audio control boards
• Experience working with both Windows and Mac operating systems
• A working knowledge of QLab and Shure Wireless Workbench
• Familiarity with L'Acoustics Network Manager and DigiCo consoles desirable
• Excellent organizational skills, be detail-oriented and demonstrate strong time management skills
• A high school diploma or GED equivalent
• A valid Class C California driver's license
The ability to lift, carry and push tools, equipment and supplies weighing 25 pounds or more is required for this position.
