Big Picture Media is looking for someone to join our NYC team as a full time Junior Publicist.
You must live in NYC, please do not apply if you do not live in NYC
Job Requirements:
· College Degree.
· Previous PR experience (Minimum of 1+ year preferred).
· Knowledge of Cision, Constant Contact, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel is a plus.
Responsibilities Include:
• Pitch stories to top tier media outlets via email and phone pitching.
• Sit in on new business meetings and calls to take notes.
• Draft media materials to include pitch letters, press releases, profiles, and press kit materials
• Work on red carpet events, photo shoots, promo shoots, shows, press days as needed
• Monitor media outlets for coverage of client news and create/maintain coverage reports
• Endless research and current up to date research tactics
• Proof and edit client related documents as needed
• Create wrap books
• Provide guidance to interns if they have questions
• Help organize intern schedules and interviews
• Be a team player and willing to help any BPM staffer at any time.
• Be willing to travel
• Know media. Research outlets, writers, reviewers, etc. Cannot emphasize you knowing media enough.
• Be a positive source of energy within the office.
• Adaptable to change and have proactive behavior
• Exceptional judgment when working with team members, clients and media
• Strong attention to detail
• Sharing client news on your own personal social media
• Ability to be confident and take charge of a situation
• Work with Natalie and Shoshie on tactical/logistics issues (travel, press schedules, etc.)
• If needed, accompany your senior publicist to her clients red carpet events, photo shoots, press days, shows as needed
• Send secured + live emails
• Make sure to remind your publicists of calls/meetings every morning
• Remind them of meetings 30 minutes prior
• Interrupt meetings if needed
• Help with personal appointments, reservations, etc.
• Tour press, tour press, tour press.
Requirements:
• You must love music and the entertainment / events industry.
• You must want to BE a publicist in a few years.
• You want to grow with the company, do not use this job as a stepping stone.
• Sharing client news on social media
• Work full time on ONLY BPM clients. No side business whatsoever.
• Never to utilize BPM relationships for side projects.
• Strong understanding of media, and strong media relations skills and knowledge are a must.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and photoshop is a plus!
• Proficient in using PR/Entertainment software and databases such as Cision, IMDB, Who Represents, etc.
• Excellent written communication skills
• Exceptional time management skills and ability to multi-task in order to consistently meet deadlines
• Adaptable to change and proactive behavior
• Exceptional judgment when working with team members, clients and media
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to be confident and take charge of a situation
