Vice President of Business Affairs and Legal

This is a Full Time Job

Reporting to the Managing Directors and EVP, this role will coordinate with other internal departments and external partners to ensure the legal and business affairs requirements of all productions and development projects are met.

Job responsibilities include:
-structuring, drafting, negotiating and tracking of all production agreements including development shopping agreements, format licenses, -rights acquisition, participant and talent agreements, showrunner, locations, clips, materials, music, licenses and appearance releases.
-supervise day-to-day production legal work for presentations, pilots, specials and series
-provide complex risk assessment for all production related matters
-perform and oversee legal research
-interacting with all departments and productions on a wide variety of business, production and legal matters including diligence, clearances, IP, risk management and legal procedures

Position works closely with EVP and Managing Directors to track status of all negotiations, show clearances, talent deals and other show related matters.

Must be a member in good standing with the CA Bar. Must have at least five years of experience in entertainment doing both business affairs and legal and a familiarity with production processes, preferably in unscripted television.

Must have strong attention to detail, be an excellent writer, clear communicator, be able to maintain confidentiality, willingness to take initiative, be a self-starter who is organized and able to work without close supervision, be able to multi-task and be a team player with a great work ethic.
