This is a Full Time Job
An excellent candidate must be well-versed in theatrical paint methodologies and be able to work with a team of professionals of different disciplines to achieve the best results. The ideal candidate will have an analytical mind, great organizational and time management skills, and a critical eye for details and aesthetics. The goal will be to ensure all projects exceed client expectations while closely following project specifications.
Responsibilities Include
• Execution of faux finished scenic treatments & clearcoats to match samples and processes
• Mixing & matching colors, including developing new color recipes
• Occasional creation of samples for client approval
• Prepare various types of surfaces for painting
• Occasional finish bodywork on hard-coated pieces in preparation for primer
• Creating detailed process sheets & assembling touch up kits for client
• Maintain the safety, order, and cleanliness of all worksite areas and equipment
• Work under the direction of the Charge Artist and with other team members in a collaborative environment
• Other relevant duties as assigned
Requirements
• Strong knowledge of faux finishing, stenciling, color mixing, layout, and scaling
• 2 years experience in a professional theatrical scene shop, event fabrication facility or equivalent
• Proficiency with HVLP spray guns & airbrushes, & other standard painting tools
• Ability to work from design renders, reference photos, and sample boards
• Ability to work independently and alongside other artists, creating a cohesive treatment
• Participation in the Respiratory Protection Program and all other Safety and PPE Programs
• Occasional travel to jobsites is required
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous theme & water park fabrication experience
• Experience painting on foam, fiberglass, and polyurea
• Familiarity with automotive or other 2-part paint systems
Physical Demands
This position is active and requires standing for 8-10 hours a day, bending, kneeling, stooping, crawling, and climbing. Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. This position is predominantly indoors, where the employee will be exposed to noise, & fumes and other airborne particles.
