Los Angeles, CAThis is a Full Time Job
Description:
We are looking for a practical, hands-on Director of Finance to lead the company's accounting processes, financial forecasting, and control systems. Reporting to the CFO, you will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions and the overall accuracy of our financial data.
This role requires a balance of high-level accountability and detailed execution. You will need to prepare materials for stakeholder review while also feeling comfortable digging into the general ledger line by line. You will manage our internal financial tools and ensure our reporting runs smoothly. As we are a rapidly expanding, innovative company, there is ample room for this role to grow and take on wider responsibilities over time.
Core Responsibilities:
Accounting & GL Management:
•Maintain a deep, line-by-line familiarity with the General Ledger, ensuring integrity across multiple bookkeeping and banking platforms.
•Manage the month-end close process, ensuring accurate GL mapping, accruals, and reconciliations.
•Lead the preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting views.
Forecasting & Planning:
•Maintain financial models, updating cash flow and P&L forecasts on a monthly basis.
•Project future revenues based on talent contracts, packaging tranches, and studio payment cycles.
•Model expansion costs, particularly the financial impact of rapid hiring and scaling.
Revenue Recognition & Collections:
•Monitor the collection and accurate recording of management commissions and packaging fees, creating and enforcing a strong system of internal controls.
•Track cash liquidity against accrued revenues at a granular level.
Systems & Expense Management:
•Manage and evaluate our finance and accounting software stack, championing and implementing new systems and processes, as needed.
•Monitor overall company expense levels and payment of bills, building routine checks to catch billing errors or miscategorizations.
•Review vendor contracts to manage costs effectively.
Stakeholder Reporting:
•Prepare clear, accurate financial views and summaries for internal strategy meetings and external stakeholder reviews.
What We Are Looking For:
•Experience: 6-7 years of accounting and finance experience. CPA required. Big 4 accounting and/or experience in entertainment finance or talent management are highly preferred.
•Tech-Savvy Approach: Comfortable evaluating and setting up modern financial software stack and automating manual data entry where possible.
•Attention to Detail: Capable of catching discrepancies and ensuring accuracy across all financial reporting.
•Problem Solving: Able to identify accounting issues, draft proposed solutions, and present them clearly to the CFO.
•Adaptability: Willing to handle strategic planning alongside routine, tactical accounting tasks in an early-stage environment.
Salary/Benefits
Base Salary: $150,000-170,000, based on experience
Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package, including medical/dental, and a company-sponsored 401(k) with contribution match.
