Search for Producer/Correspondent jobs in Woodland Hills-CA
We're looking for highly motivated producer/correspondents (P/C's) to bring funny, well-researched facts and opinions to SourceFed's daily news videos and beyond. Applicants should think of the P/C role as equal parts producer, researcher, writer and comedian.
Please see last paragraph for submission requirements including Original Video Audition. Note: due to high submission rates, we cannot consider applications missing any required submission elements
Responsibilities: This position will be responsible for:
- Researching daily news topics relevant to our audience from various sources
- Pitching stories with angles and voices unique from other outlets
- Writing/pitching/reworking jokes, scripts, and show concepts as assigned
- Delivering jokes and presenting information on-camera with high-energy comedic timing
- Proactively booking shoot times, writing sessions, locations, equipment etc with production department
- Securing additional outside required resources when necessary
- Optimizing video titles, thumbnails, and other SEO elements for maximum exposure
- Guarding and maintaining a high-quality brand standard in assigned videos
Requirements: Applicants must possess the following:
- A passion for news / current events and how they shape our lives
- Knowledge of how to thoroughly research and fact-check scripts and stories in a timely manner
- A strong sense of comedic writing, timing and presentation
- Excellent organization and communication skills and sense of personal and professional responsibility
- An ability to produce results with short turn-around times and smaller budgets
- Proficiency in working in both solo and collaborative situations
Plusses: Ideal candidates will also possess:
- Expertise in important current politics and world events
- Working knowledge of YouTube best practices and SEO
- Solid familiarity with various social media platforms and strategies including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and Vine
- Improvisation and interviewing skills (good at adding to jokes/bits, able to riff with guests and other comedians)
- The ability to gracefully and responsibly navigate the line between fact and opinion in videos
- Teleprompter and other presentation skills
- A pro-active work ethic when it comes to pitching new shows, ideas, social campaigns, etc
SourceFed is very much a work-hard/play-hard environment. We encourage and reward going above and beyond the call. We believe that work ethic and positive results are just as valuable as established credentials. Credentials are a plus for sure, but we won't turn hard-workers who can prove themselves away either. If SourceFed sounds like the place for you please provide the following 3 things in an email to the provided submission email.
Submission Requirements
- A clickable link to your original news story audition (see details below)
- PDF Resume
- Cover Letter (can be in body of email or PDF attachment)
*Video Audition Requirements: We want you to write and record your take on a SourceFed News Story. Find a topical news story from this week that is important to you, research it from multiple sources and points of view, write up your take on the subject and present it to camera in a funny, knowledgeable and entertaining way. Then send us the link!
We're not looking for the best lighting, editing, or other technical considerations, but rather the quality of your research, writing, and comedic presentation. As long as we can see and hear you clearly, an iPhone recording up against a wall in your apartment is perfectly acceptable. One final note: we don't just want your best impression of our existing videos. Use your best judgement to create something that both fits the tone of our existing content, but showcases what makes you unique.
We look forward to your submissions!
- The SourceFed Team.
