Job Title: Director, Domestic Social Expressions and Global Publishing
Reporting Relationship
The Director will report to the VP of Softlines and Global Publishing, 20th Century Fox Consumer Products.
Key Internal Relationships
The Director will work closely with the VP, FCP Agents in all regions, VPs of Brand Franchises, Retail Team, Fox Development Executives and Property Creators.
Primary Responsibilities
Social Expressions:
Primary Categories Include: greetings, (both printed and electronic), party goods, stationery, writing instruments, back-to-school supplies, calendars, desk accessories and journals.
Secondary Categories Include: notecards, invitations, bookmarks, organization and storage, photo albums and accessories, gift presentation. scrapbooks.
-Managing the strategic alliance relationship with leading social expressions client across all brands and all retail accounts. Responsible for driving innovation and growth in the category. Managing the planning of the line across greetings, party goods, novelty and gift presentation for all Fox brands. Planning and executing dedicated Corporate owned/franchised store initiatives with this particular client for marquee properties. Present regular updates on new and existing brands regularly to ensure they are maximizing revenue potential of their grant.
-Align the FCP creative/pd teams with clients' respective teams to insure productivity.
-Write strategic plans for the social expressions category to identify growth areas.
-Manage existing base of social expressions licensees and identify and expand that base and retail penetration. Meet with buyers from a variety of key retail accounts in the category to drive sales and build programs.
Publishing:
Primary Categories Include:
-Programs for Children including: Storybooks, novelty books, sticker books, coloring and activity books, workbooks, and magazines
-Programs for Young Adult to Adult: Original Series Fiction, Graphic Novels, Monthly Comics, Deluxe Books (Making-of, Visual Books), Show Compendiums, Humor and Novelty Books
-Partworks for both Children and Adults
Secondary Categories Include: Electronic Books and Book Apps
-Build strategic multiyear publishing plans for film and TV franchises by key regions: UK/EMEA; APLA, Latin America, North America to expand business in existing markets and open new markets.
-Present properties to global publishing partners at annual international book fairs: London, Bologna, Frankfurt
-Prepare customized presentations to prospective publishers
-Prepare customized presentations of publishing plans by brand to present to property creators to insure smooth communication and collaboration
-Manage retail relationship with key retail account to build programs across multiple categories.
Administrative Responsibilities
-Working with in-house legal team in drafting and closing of contracts.
-Provide monthly sales status reports and quarterly projections and forecasts.
-In conjunction with finance, track licensees' payments and reports to insure timely payments
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate is a highly creative and strategic thinker who appreciates a fast-paced environment, and can react quickly to emerging opportunities. The candidate will have experience and a solid track record with the social expressions category from a sales, marketing, retail or manufacturing background coupled with experience and track record in publishing from an editorial, sales, retail or marketing background. Solid relationships with leaders in the respective categories are needed. Knowledge of key players in the major international publishing markets also needed. Ability to travel both domestically and internationally required. Strong writing and presentation skills a must.
