Clip Researcher

This position is responsible for the video research and clip clearances department including managing one assistant and one intern. The Clip Researcher will be responsible for guest video research and clearing all third party clips used in the show, including guest promo clips and footage used in comedy bits. Successful candidates will have excellent research skills, understanding of fair use, knowledge of stock footage vendors, critical thinking abilities and amazing time management skills.

Responsibilities:
-Compile DVDs and video links to relevant research on each upcoming guest, such as prior talk show appearances, personal Twitter videos, screener DVDs, before they were famous clips, etc.
-Ensure all clips are in correct format and ingested in edit on time for daily show taping
-Acquire guest promo clips from personal and studio publicists
-Liaise with legal to assess fair use arguments for clips
-Collaborate with writers to find and clear clips for comedy bits
-Negotiate clip licensing agreements with stock footage companies and movie/TV studios for promo clips
-Document all used and unused footage for CONAN in usage log
-Manage weekly stock footage budget
-Escalate rights issues when necessary
-Record and archive current talk shows and TV events
