Senior Systems Administrator

Based in Los Angeles, with locations in Vancouver, London, Sydney, Pune, Melbourne and New York, Method Studios is a leading post production facility providing a full range of visual effects services. As an artist-driven company, Method is built around an exceptional team of VFX professionals who have create award winning visual effects for Feature Film, Commercials, and Music Videos.

Method Studios has recently completed work on “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” and “Wrath of the Titans”

We currently have an opening for a Senior Systems Administrator. This position will be located in Santa Monica, CA.

Primary Duties:

- Developing internal tools, administrative UI's, and scripts.

- Extending a software distribution system (based on rdist).

- Administering Servers (cross-platform): NFS, FTP, Web, DNS.

- Building new Linux and Mac OSX workstations and render servers and integrating them into the network.

- Installing, configuring, and distributing commercial software.

- Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting PC hardware.

Required Skills:

- RedHat Linux, Python, shell scripting (bash/tcsh).

- Good communication and problem-solving skills.

- Must be able to lift and carry 25-50 pounds frequently and 60 pounds occasionally.

Additional Useful Skills:

- Experience installing and maintaining Mac OSX.

- Render farm management, queuing software.

- HTML, Apache, SSL.

- Knowledge of 2D and 3D computer graphics apps (Nuke, Maya, RenderMan).

- Knowledge of desktop environment customization.

- C/C++ programming.

- Familiarity with tape devices on Unix, and scripting tape creation.

- Work experience at a visual effects company.

- SQL databases (especially MySQL)
