The Art Institute of California - Hollywood, a Los Angeles based design college is one of the Art Institutes, America’s leader in postsecondary career-oriented education for the creative arts. Our school is located in a new complex in the arts district of North Hollywood near Lankershim and Magnolia.
The Art Institute of California - Hollywood is looking for part-time instructors to teach in the Graphic Design program for our FALL Quarter which starts October 4th. We have two class openings: MA2202 STORY BOARDING FOR ANIMATION, MA1122 CHARACTERS AND OBJECT DESIGN and MA2212 3-D CAMERA TECHNIQUES.
MA2202 STORY BOARDING FOR ANIMATION: This course focuses on applying industry-standard storyboarding and scripting techniques to animation. Contents to be covered include the various purposes and formats of storyboards, the basic terminology and concepts used in storyboarding, and the application of storyboarding techniques to the creation of storyboards with or without a written script.
MA1122 CHARACTERS AND OBJECT DESIGN: Continuing to develop the basic drawings course, students will focus on rendering life forms in space. Emphasis will be placed on the basic anatomical structures of human and animal forms. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
* Apply principles of character and object design to animation
* Create an original new show concept
* Attempt an actual studio character design test
* Structure work to fit into a character design portfolio
MA2212 3-D CAMERA TECHNIQUES: In this course students learn techniques used in pre-production and /production including cameras, lenses, mounting equipment, framing and composition, and natural and studio lighting. Class competancies include:
* Apply industry-standard storyboard and scripting techniques to animation
* Camera techniques in computer animation
* Camera and lighting principles in a practical situation
* Understand the principles of editing, art direction and production design as they relate to cinematography
Our classroom sizes are small, and our labs include the latest in technology and software. Preparing academic curriculum and developing lesson plans is an important part of this position.
Classes are 4 hours in length and run for 11 weeks.
• Candidates must have a GRADUATE LEVEL DEGREE in related disciplines.
• Candidates must come from a strong background in animation.
• Previous experience in teaching at a post secondary school environment or training is highly desirable.
• Local candidates only (living in the greater Los Angeles area)
