Intern Writer (Spring)

This is a Part Time Paid Internship

Sweeting Independent Films is looking for interns interested in developing new scripts for future production. Intern will help by writing a first and second draft screenplay, or pilot with 4 following episodes, on original concepts. Feature, animated feature, animated series, and graphic novel formats welcome. Scripts will later be further rewritten and developed by production company.

Final script should be in Final Draft or properly formatted in Word or Acrobat. Not a fast-paced environment, no errand running, creative work rather than office work, and a chance to collaborate with other writers. There is a well structured progression to a final script with the bulk of time spent in collaborative brainstorming, followed by independent writing of a first draft, a read through with notes, then a rewrite for a second draft, which is designed to build off what you learned in school.

Meetings will be done over Skype, so you should have high speed internet, a microphone, and webcam. Help with setting up video conferencing account is provided, Skype is free, and if you have a Mac with a camera than you certainly can video conference). Script meetings are about 1 hour, once a week, and openings are on Saturdays (9am -10, 10:30 -11:30. 12- 1, 1:30 – 2:30, 3-4, California time). Internship in full runs 6 months. Since meetings are on Saturdays there are three days of vacation time. This is a part time internship so 19 hours a week of writing is expected outside of the meeting time to complete the work assigned.

A percentage stake in net profits is retained by writer in the form of royalties if the project is exhibited. Email cover letter and resume.
