Universal Music Group is currently seeking a Director of Category Management for the Universal City, CA office.
Job Summary:
The Director of Category Management (DCM) for Wal-mart directly oversees all activities geared to maximize profitable category growth. At the strategic level, the DCM is responsible for establishing full-year business plans and providing constant, account-level guidance related to key metric performance, core shopper insights, retailer initiatives, and product life cycle. DCM’s deliver periodic business reviews, ad hoc analyses, and recommendations to both internal (senior management) and external (retailer) customers. At the tactical level, the DCM works closely with Sales to ensure proper execution of all modular / promotional sets and interfaces frequently with other stakeholder groups to resolve issues with best practice solutions. The successful DCM will possess extensive retail experience and the ability to transform large volumes of performance data into action-oriented business intelligence. Having an eye for both detail and the bigger picture will be critical, along with the ability to prioritize multiple projects. Some travel to Arkansas will be required.
Job Functions:
•Build and maintain ground-up, full-year account plan at the sku and week level for entire category, incorporating baseline forecasts, promotions, pricing scenarios, placement assumptions, and seasonality
•Provide periodic and ad hoc guidance related to actual-to-plan metrics, performance drivers, shopper insights, and strategic initiatives
•Support Sales with all modular and promotional sets throughout the year
•Provide weekly tracking and analyses of all key sets and fixtures
•Conduct store audits and performance reviews on new releases and key promotions
•Develop promotions and strategic initiatives that drive incremental revenue and resolve shortfalls to plan
Minimum Qualifications:
•High-bandwidth to manage multiple priorities and projects
•Ability to meet deadlines and work in pressure situations
•Team-oriented, results-oriented approach
•Excellent personal and professional communication skills
•Ability to craft and deliver executive-level presentations
•Expertise in Microsoft applications
•Power-user experience with third-party applications (i.e. Retail Link, AC Nielsen, Vision, Microstrategy)
•Solid understanding of retail fundamentals across multiple channels with an emphasis on Wal-mart / Sams
•College degree (post-graduate preferred)
