Extreme Music, is an international production / library music business that forms part of Sony Music Publishing. Extreme Music has operations in Berlin, Sydney, New York, Los Angeles and is headquartered in London.
Departmental Overview:
The Digital Department functions primarily to deliver EM’s content to its clients through the website and hard drive deliveries; to maintain, catalogue and archive EM’s digital assets and create content deliverable across a variety of mediums.
Role Objective:
To create, format and manage digital assets from source material provided by our studios; to effectively catalogue EM’s library and adhere to the various naming and architectural conventions. To produce and format consistent, reliable content and create a solid archiving process for EM’s assets.
Summary of Role Responsibilities:
This includes (but is not limited to) the following areas of responsibility:
Creation of Digital Content
Creating Digital Assets from supplied content
Duplicating content supplied from the EM studios
Creating MP3 audition files for the web
Creating download files: MP3, AIF, WAV
Formatting digital files: embedding digital files with metadata from Label Copy and Categorization databases
Creating and maintaining the folder architecture
Archiving files to the web server and hard drives
Consistently following and maintaining the naming convention for all files folders
Asset Management
Diligently maintaining EM’s digital assets
Music files – archiving and cataloguing all content to EM’s servers
news clips movies: gather assets and catalogue/archive to EM’s servers
Copying & distributing Hard Drives for USA
Assisting in creating hard drives for client delivery
Distributing digital files on an Ad Hoc basis
FTP files to staff and clients at request
Create projects for duplication at request
Person Specification
Qualifications/ Experience
Essential
Educated to degree standard or to demonstrate a depth of knowledge in the field
Demonstrate experience in maintaining digital assets
Experience in Cataloguing / Archiving digital content
Experience in formatting digital files (WAV, AIF, MP3, JPG, TIFF, MPG, MOV)
Desirable
Experience with keywording / categorizing digital content
Experience managing a digital music or image library
Skills/ Abilities
Essential
Excellent attention to detail
Digital file formatting software (Soundminer, iTunes etc)
Sound and video editing experience
Good interpersonal skills, plenty of patience.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Organised and thorough, with the ability to co-ordinate, prioritise and multitask
Able to work effectively autonomously as well as part of a team
Ability to understand process and follow procedure
Ability to work effectively at a fast pace
