Online Marketing Internship

Film Independent is a non-profit organization that champions the cause of independent film and supports a community of artists who embody diversity, innovation, and uniqueness of vision. We are dedicated to helping independent filmmakers get their films made, build an audience for independent film, and increase diversity in the film industry. Film Independent is also known for producing the Spirit Awards and the Los Angeles Film Festival.

Internship duties include:
• Managing the online promotion of Film Education events, the Spirit Awards, and the Los Angeles Film Festival on Facebook & Twitter
• Conducting outreach to our partnering organizations for marketing campaigns
• Making basic changes to graphics and photos, using Photoshop
• Organizing and implementing online viral campaigns
• Editing for grammar and style as well as link checking all email marketing pieces
• Learning to use industry-standard content management systems to post news and blogs to our web properties

Required computer skills:
• Mac Savvy
• Familiarity with Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, YouTube, Vimeo, Flickr, Blogger
• Basic HTML skills or willingness to learn on the fly
• Good copy-editing skills
• Basic photoshop skills

Time Commitment:
• 2 full days per week or total of 20 hours
• 12 weeks minimum

• Potential candidates must be organized, resourceful, energetic, and dedicated – multi-tasking is key in this department!
• Candidates must be patient and respectful to press
• Internship is unpaid but offers invaluable experience at a nationally recognized non-profit organization.
• School credit available
