Head of Entertainment Business Management

This is a Full Time Job

As part of the senior administration, the Department Head reports to the Managing Director while working with other Heads of Department, the Director of Human Resources & Educational Administration, and the Director of Strategic Program Development, to support Vancouver Film School objectives. The Department Head will build on the current programming and financial platform established for the past two decades, enhance community involvement both internally and externally, and present a more unified public face for the Entertainment Business Management program offered at VFS. The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader who is knowledgeable about learning, and will be sensitive to the unique role of the visual arts programs within VFS and industry along with strong business acumen. She or he is committed to continuing the artistic and academic excellence, accessibility, and innovation of VFS programs.

The candidate should have extensive administrative experience with particular emphasis on issues of curriculum development, instructional delivery, governance, physical and human resources, budget, technology, student life, and community relations. She or he will also have excellent consultative, decision-making, conflict resolution, organizational, and well-developed interpersonal skills. In addition, this candidate will be an excellent communicator, supervisor, and mentor.

Senior-level business experience and a portfolio demonstrating a high caliber of professional work in the entertainment business industry are a must. The successful candidate would also benefit from an MBA, MA (or the highest equivalent degree in their discipline), or a distinguished record of achievement in post-secondary teaching.
