Wyoming PBS, a full-service, public television station licensed to Central Wyoming College in Riverton, Wyoming, seeks a full-time Production Specialist to produce and edit television content for the station and assist WPBS staff on related projects.
Position Function: The position is is responsible for producing and editing television content for the station and assisting WyomingPBS (WPBS) staff on related projects.
Position Specifications: Education:Associate's degree in communications, journalism, radio/TV or other directly related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Experience:One year of public television station experience producing short video segments or other directly related experience, including file based work flow and with file conversion applications, researching, scripting, shooting, editing and live productions.
Licenses/Certifications:Valid Wyoming Driver's License with a good driving record and be insurable by the College's insurance carrier.
Equivalency Statement:Equivalent combinations of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
1.Knowledge of and ability to operate HD camera and editing equipment.
2.Computer literate and highly proficient in a Windows and Mac operating system environment.
3.Knowledge of personal computer hardware and software.
4.Knowledge of Federal Communication Commission rules and regulations.
5.Knowledge of CWC and WPBS policies, procedures and practices.
6.Knowledge and understanding of the use and theory of operation of audio and video production equipment, signal path, lighting, sound and aesthetics for television production.
7.Ability to safely, operate a passenger motor vehicle.
8.Ability to sit, stand, stoop, climb and walk intermittently.
9.Ability to handle, operate, lift and carry bulky audio/video equipment and cases up to 75 pounds.
10.Ability to load and unload various equipment, cases and cabling in and out of a motor vehicle during field productions.
11.Ability to independently set up and operate multiple camera video and multichannel audio production/recording system.
12.Possess strength, dexterity and ability to setup, test, operate and breakdown equipment required for producing programs.
13.Possess keen sight for color/clarity correctness for video.
14.Ability to hear sufficient to mix and balance multiple audio sources.
15.Physical and mental ability to work independently and confidentially.
16.Ability to concentrate with frequent interruptions and under stressful situations.
17.Ability to perform variety of tasks simultaneously or in rapid succession.
18.Ability to organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects concurrently through to completion with an attention to detail, and to meet deadlines.
19.Skill in and ability to supervise the work of others.
20.Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
21.Ability to relate with a diverse population in a professional, helpful manner and be a team player.
22.Possesses strong, effective interpersonal skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions of the position are to:
1.Technically directs live and recorded programs from concept to completion with the assistance of WPBS staff.
2.Oversees and directs multi-camera live-to-tape and live television programs.
3.Shoots documentary productions with file-based field cameras.
4.Lights studio and locations with three-point technique.
5.Operates non-linear edit equipment.
6.Operates studio cameras and sound recording devices.
7.Coordinates the use and set up of equipment, and other technical resources with the producer, talent and crew.
8.Coordinates and prepares field sites for remote location productions
9.Sets-up field production and studio post-production
10.Sets up, tests, operates and breaks down production and post-production equipment.
11.Performs other reasonably related duties as directed or assigned.
Work Environment: Work is generally performed in an office or production setting and may require being in confined areas or other field work. Work requires frequent travel, variable hours, and occassional work on evenings, weekends and holidays.
