Application Support Engineer
The Application Support Engineer is part of an application team that is responsible for maintaining current systems and supporting the business community with day to day issues. This individual will work closely with the business units, specifically in the marketing, TV Ads and Network Channel area to help analyze business processes, support day-to-day issues and enhance system functionality. This includes facilitating writing, coding, testing, debugging and implementing software programs and applications in a structured full life cycle methodology.
Responsibilities:
* Assist in the definition, development, and documentation of software's business requirements, objectives, deliverables, and specifications on a project-by-project basis in collaboration with internal users and departments.
* Liaise with systems administrators, engineers and Help Desk technicians to assist in resolving problems with software products or corporate software systems.
* Work closely with offshore development teams to translate business requirements into software development requirements. Deliver solutions and updates provided by offshore teams to the business
* Work closely with Marketing, TV Sales, and various BU's associated with WWE Network trafficking systems
* Analyze and assess existing business systems and procedures .
* Design, run and monitor software performance tests on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.
* Generate statistics and write reports for management and/or team members on the status of the programming process.
* Develop and maintain user manuals and guidelines.
* Provide second and third level support for various business critical and high volume applications.
* Develop monitoring tools and reports to identify possible problems with business critical applications
* Recommend, schedule, and install software improvements and upgrades as required.
Requirements:
* 5-7 years of IT experience.
* College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or software engineering.
* Demonstrated proficiency in the following skills: MS Visual Studio.Net, Visual Bsic.Net , ADO.Net, Windows Application Development, Web Development with ASP.Net and IIS,SQL Server, Visual SourceSafe.
* Experience with Oracle 9i (or above), SQL Server 2000 (and above) Java, especially J2EE technologies including JDBC, and Servlets; JavaScript, HTML, PL/SQL a plus.
* Experience working with the Broadway or Harris OSI ad scheduling and trafficking systems is a plus.
* Able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical staff.
* Experience developing test cases and test plans.
* Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently and appropriately prioritize tasks.
* Flexible and adaptable in regards to learning and understanding new technologies.
* Must be highly self-motivated and self-directed.
* Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
* On-call availability.
* Overtime hours may be required at times to meet project deadlines. |
