SEEKING: GAMEPLAY ENGINEER for our DEFIANCE, game
DEFIANCE™ is the first multi-platform shooter MMO, that in a ground-breaking entertainment experience, interconnects with a global television program on Syfy. The game combines the intense action of a console third-person shooter, with the persistence, scale, and customization of an MMO, while its TV counterpart exudes the scope, story, and drama of a classic sci-fi epic.
Being developed for the PC, Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, DEFIANCE unites the MMORPG and Shooter game genres across the most popular platforms.
We are seeking a Gameplay Engineerwho will be responsible for developing core gameplay systems and technologies for Defiance™, our multiplatform shooter MMO being developed in collaboration with Syfy. Ideal candidates will have a deep interest in game development and a passion for creating high quality, innovative gameplay features and mechanics. Candidates should have a strong history of getting things done in a timely and practical manner with minimal supervision, have high standards when it comes to code and feature quality, and have the desire to work on AAA titles in a collaborative team environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, implement, and support core gameplay systems and technologies within the existing game engine, including weapons, player controls, character animation and movement, physics, AI, and camera systems
Identify possible pitfalls and provide practical and innovative alternatives/solutions
Iterate with design team to ensure gameplay features deliver a high quality optimal player experience
Work closely with content creators to improve workflow
REQUIREMENTS
5 years of game development experience with at least one shipped product and at least 3 years dedicated to gameplay development
Excellent feel for what makes a game ''fun''
Fluency in C/C
Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Strong 3D math skills
Ability to accurately and realistically schedule tasks
Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely fashion with a high degree of quality
Ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Passion for games
Previous Xbox 360 and/or PS3 experience
PLUSES
Previous MMO, Action, or FPS experience
AAA shipped titles
