The audit provision of the participation contracts and Guild basic agreements give third parties the right to audit their statements. The Senior Analyst works closely with the Audit Managers to facilitate the participant and Guild audits.
Once an audit commences, the Senior Analyst assigned to the audit is responsible for obtaining the supporting documents requested by the auditors. The Sr. Analyst works closely with all SPE business units to gather, reconcile and prepare data obtained from various accounting systems. Upon obtaining the documents, the Sr. Analyst first reviews the information and reconciles the amounts to the applicable schedules. The Sr. Analyst is also responsible for redacting information not relevant to the title being tested before providing the auditor with the requested information.
The Sr. Analyst must use discretion to maintain confidentiality between various participant and guild audits. This position requires solid communications skills and the ability to interface with all levels of SPE management and support staff. The Sr. Analyst must demonstrate flexibility and patience as well as the ability to work in a team environment.
Analyze participant contracts or Guild agreements in advance of the audit in order to identify any non-standard provisions.
Analyze and audit the outside participation statements for accuracy, completeness and contractual adherence.
Review Income Statements issued to the Guilds.
Reconcile data between the multiple accounting feeder systems and the OPUS data repository.
Request, retrieve, organize, and present appropriate supporting information.
Research auditor's unresolved open items. Investigate missing and hard-to-find support documentation.
Maintain and organize open item lists for each audit, including correspondence files, accounting information, claim support.
Under the direction of the Audit Manager, review accounting information to be presented to the outside auditors for appropriateness and correctness.
Discuss and analyze the developing patterns of requests by the auditors to predict potential auditor claims and strategies.
Once audit is completed, prepare responses to unresolved audit issues and claims.
Provide analysis and support to the Audit Manager and assist in the completion of the final audit evaluation settlement for negotiation meetings.
Discuss requests for accounting information related to the participant's products.
Present appropriate information. Using discretion, explain Sony accounting procedures.
Update management status reportsSummarize the kinds and level of knowledge, skills and abilities your job requires.
B.S. degree in Accounting/Finance is strongly preferred
Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP)
Must be proficient with Word, Excel, database software (ie. Access) and online analysis tools.
Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills required.
Able to multitask and handle multiple projects at same time.
Self starter; able to work independently and make decisions using information provided.
Knowledge of:
Motion picture distribution and production audits
Entertainment industry generally
All accounting systems within the company.
Foreign currencies.
Participation reporting contracts and statements.
TV production and distribution agreements.
Guild Basic Agreements, Special Provisions and Side Letters.
Skill In:
Reconciling complex, multi-platform accounting systems.
Knowledge of SAP, C2C, BOXI, JDE etc.
Responding to requests for information of varying confidentiality, sensitivity, and availability.
