Outreach and Development Manager:
Rooftop Films seeks an exceptional manager and writer to coordinate all marketing, communications and outreach efforts as well as assist with fundraising and grant management. This is a flexible, creative position, employing a variety of skills; an opportunity for someone who is excited by a small arts non-profit environment, who is well-organized, ambitious, and creative. This is a full-time, year-round position. Hours include regular office work hours and some evening/weekend work.
Qualifications:
- Applicants can come from the non-profit or for-profit worlds.
- Demonstrated work experience in traditional and grass-roots marketing as well as community outreach.
- Be culturally engaged. A familiarity with and interest in independent film is a plus.
- Some experience in development/fundraising is preferred.
- Possess flexibility, excellent organizational, writing, proofreading and verbal communication skills.
- An understanding and dedication to our mission.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal staff and external constituencies at all levels.
- Knowledge of current and evolving trends in marketing and social media.
- Ability to thrive in a small team environment, to take responsibility and to meet deadlines.
- Experience in brainstorming and group problem-solving techniques.
- Some supervisory/training experience preferred.
- MS Office and HTML editing skills required; familiarity with Adobe Creative a plus.
General Tasks:
Marketing
- Develop, implement and evaluate a communications and outreach strategy.
- Consult regularly with staff members to understand programs and services.
- Draft and edit effective and innovative communications materials including mass e-mails to mailing list, internal documents, emails, press releases and other marketing and communication materials as required.
- Manage and create content for social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter, etc), Rooftop Films blog and website.
- Point of contact with press and liaison with Public Relations consultant.
- Responsible for photo archives and distribution of images to public, press, ect.
- Research grassroots outreach opportunities.
- Manage distribution of Summer Series flyers and posters by street team.
- Oversee, manage and evaluate interns regarding marketing/outreach tasks.
- Liaise with graphic designers and printers to produce marketing materials and merchandise, including copy editing and proofing.
- Conduct market research using surveys, questionnaires, and other means; analyze and report the data.
- Track and catalogue press mentions.
Fundraising/Grants
- Coordinate annual Membership/Donation drive.
- Assist with conceptualization and writing of fundraising campaign.
- Distribute (or oversee distribution of) all member/donor correspondence.
- Research and assist in writing applications for new and standing grants.
- Manage grant process/paperwork including final reports.
Misc.
- Use HTML to author and update web content.
- Assist with preparation for shows (compiling VIP guest lists, ect).
- Represent Rooftop Films at screenings and other events.
- Maintain a historical record of marketing collateral, publications and public relations articles.
- Work with Filmmakers to promote their screenings with Rooftop and work with Alumni Filmmakers to promote theatrical/DVD/other artistic initiatives.
