PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Guides Mattel subs on the domestic and international kids television & DVD landscape, while acting as a functional expert to guide negotiations between broadcaster, distributor, and Mattel subsidiaries. Drive marketing and PR around North American content distribution platforms while guiding international teams.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Overall Responsibilities
• Act as functional expert to guide negotiations between broadcaster, Mattel international subs and international TV distributor. Requires an extensive knowledge of Mattel strategy, advertising budgets, P&L, international finance structures, creative & flexible thinking, deal negotiating, and relationship building.
• Guide Mattel subs on the domestic and international kids television & DVD landscape, including industry trends, broadcaster’s share/ratings trends amongst target, etc., distribution options, legal and regulatory (ie. OFCOM)
• Drive marketing and PR around North American Division content distribution platforms, such as broadcast, home video, digital distribution, etc.
• Manage Digital Asset Management initiative which includes the ingestion and digitization of content, storage of said content and dissemination to internal parties.
Mattel Alignment
• Manage synergistic efforts surrounding broadcast of the series to ensure alignment and support around all entertainment initiatives, including toy, licensing, partnerships, digital, production, pr, etc.
• Work with Global Brand Teams and Mattel Subsidiaries around alignment on key broadcasters, strategy creation for securing broadcasters, deal structuring, obtaining/delivering show assets as needed, adherence to exclusivity provisions, communication with subsidiaries on home entertainment marketing and release plans at the local level.
• Create content marketing “tool boxes” for subs to use in broadcaster planning meetings.
• Manage all internal needs relating to content, i.e. voice talent for toy products, rights and clearances, etc.
Co-finance Relationships
• Accurate tracking and timely payment of royalties, license fees, dubbing expenses, etc.
Global Television Distribution
• Manage best-in-class international distribution partners.
• Develop strategy and align Mattel subs with distributor on broadcaster placement.
• Track production schedules, dubbing lead-times to ensure timely delivery of episodes and assets to broadcasters and local subs.
• Accurate tracking and timely payment of royalties, license fees, dubbing expenses, etc.
• Track international broadcaster support across all points in distribution/marketing lifecycle; premiere through ratings/trends analysis
• Manage and track broadcaster on contracts and delivery dates
• Ensure broadcaster adherence to holdback provisions.
• Create and supply broadcaster style guide
• Approve all marketing elements related to the content, including trailers, consumer ads, packaging, digital, etc.
Home Entertainment
• Act as function expert on the home entertainment market including key players and ancillary distribution opportunities (EST, VOD, SVOD, digital, IPTV)
• Align Home Entertainment distributor and Mattel subs around release strategies, packaging, retail execution, and co-marketing
• Where applicable, manage creation of key creative assets, such as media, pr, trailers/TV spots, inserts, packaging art, web, etc.
• Ensure timely delivery of production assets to distributor
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business or related field required; MBA preferred
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Minimum 4-6 years (2-4 years with MBA) experience in entertainment marketing or content distribution
• Thorough understanding of standard marketing techniques
• Demonstrated leadership ability
• Demonstrated strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
• Excellent written/verbal, time management and quantitative/analytical skills required
• Strong understanding of international distribution landscape
