Job Title: Compression Operator- iTunes
SUMMARY OF POSITION

Global Digital Media Xchange Inc. seeks a Compression Operator- iTunes for the Compression department. Position will perform various compression processes as daily workload dictates including, but not limited to:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, WM9, QuickTime, VC-1, H.264, ProRes for DVD and VOD as well as other types of encodes as developed and needed for new formats.
• Verification of Video Master Quality including QC of Video and Audio.
• Verification of Compression including QC of Video, Audio and Closed Caption.
• Verification of Metadata.
• Multiplexing of Video/Audio/Metadata/Closed Caption in Cable and Internet Media formats.
• Delivery of encoded files per client requirements, Apple Transporter, Aspera, FTP, Digidelivery, Hard Drive, etc.
• Notify supervisor and/or engineering staff immediately about any equipment problems.
• Perform duplication and packaging of digital assets to physical media (DVD-R, CD-R, DLT, 8 mm, DVD-RAM) and electronic distribution as may be needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• College degree, preferably in Computer Sciences, Electronics, Multi-Media Technology or a related field, or 5+ years industry related experience in areas such as tape duplication, quality control, editing.
• Must have 2+ years experience in video and/or audio encoding using various codecs including MPEG-2, AVI, QuickTime, Real, Windows Media, etc. particularly for Video-On-Demand product.
• Experience with digital image processing and editing in various formats (AVI, QUICKTIME, YUV, TARGA, TIFF, BMP) preferred.
• Knowledge and experience with the various iTunes file and package specifications highly preferred - including creation, packaging and delivery.
• Strong background with Final Cut Pro a must.
• Digi-Beta, DCT, D5, HDCAMS, DDR editing, operation, and setup.
• 3:2 processing.
• Noise reduction and weave removal.
• MPEG-2 Compression, Program Stream, Transport Stream.
• UNIX & PC Operating Systems, MS Office programs.
• Familarity with the following video codecs: MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4, WM9, Quicktime, ProRes, H.264.
• Familarity with the following audio codecs: WMA, AAC, MP3, MPEG, AC-3.
• Familiarity with the following uncompressed digital formats: AVI, YUV, TARGA, TIFF, BMP, WAV, AIF.
• Electronic Noise Reduction.
• Real Time Imaging Process.
• File based image processing and manipulation, color space conversion. (Photoshop, Premiere, Media Cleaner).
• Must have a working knowledge of computers and computer networks.
• May also require lifting of equipment, up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to review, comprehend, and summarize detailed status on numerous activities.
• Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Must have good attention to detail (able to review their own work, as well as others).
• Must maintain confidentiality.
• Must solve problems within scope of responsibility (or route problems to appropriate individuals).
