Part Time - General Editor, espnW
Reporting to the Editor-in-Chief, the General Editor will develop and direct editorial content for espnW's coverage of women's sports and female athletes. This includes: identifying key female athletes for coverage based on the women's sports calendar; building and developing ongoing relationships with those athletes; developing storylines, content packages, video series and other editorial conceits with those athletes that are engaging and relevant to our female audience; coordinating with the espnW editorial team and divisions throughout ESPN on content plans and creative development as needed; writing featured stories and coming up with new ideas and creative formats, including fresh editorial series, franchises and witty, innovative approaches to women's sports events coverage. Position will be based in Bristol, CT.
• Develop, assign, coordinate and oversee featured content around female athletes for espnW.
• Identify key events for coverage based on the women's sports calendar.
• Generate, produce and execute new ideas and creative formats around female athletes and women's sports across espnW.
• Act as a liaison with other ESPN properties and staffers to ensure and enhance project synergy across multi-media platforms.
• Help execute and oversee content sharing and syndication opportunities in the larger women's marketplace.
• Ability to deal with management, associates, and business partners in courteous, tactful and patient manner.
• Minimum of 5 years of journalism experience, including 2 in online media.
• Experience leading a team of writers.
• Experience in online media content packaging and development.
• Ability to edit and produce content using a robust content management system.
• Applicants must have the ability to work under pressure in a rapidly changing online environment and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Great editorial skills and creative judgment.
• Passionate about launching innovative products to drive revenue, profitability and growth.
• Clear understanding of and experience with female audience.
• Detail oriented, a strong sense of personal ownership and experience working in a high growth or high performance environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

• Bachelor's Degree in communication arts, journalism, new media or a related field or equivalent work experience.
