*PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A NONPAYING INTERNSHIP THAT TAKES PLACE ON LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK*
Who
• You: The internship is open to college students, graduate students and high school students with strong research and social media skills.
• Me: After a career as an entertainment attorney and a manager of major label recording artists, I developed a new career as a nationally recognized artist, curator and speaker. I work extensively with the National Park Service and my book, ''Weir Farm National Historic Site,'' will be released by Arcadia Publishing this June. My publicist will be scheduling appearances for book signings, media interviews, public talks and other events. Plans are underway to present new exhibits and to re-launch my body of work for a higher public profile.
What
Interns will be assisting me primarily with research on three main projects:
• antique technology for an exhibit I am planning to curate.
• my history/photo book about the national park described above.
• photography exhibits related to the book and other themes.
When
The internship is ongoing year-round. Candidates can apply at any time. The internship days and hours are:
• Saturdays, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm (5 work hours)
• Sundays, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm including 1 hour lunch break (6 work hours)
Where
The internship will take place at my studio in Roslyn Heights, Long Island. It's easy to get here and there is plenty of free parking. It may be necessary for the intern to accompany me on local or out-of-town travel (e.g., Connecticut). I will cover the costs and incidental expenses. No overnight travel is involved. There may be some days when, in lieu of coming to my studio, the intern will work from home or a library.
Why
The internship is nonremunerative and I cannot guarantee a paid position after the internship ends. But it is a great opportunity:
• to work on unique and interesting fine art projects. Interns will be supervised and working directly with me.
• for hands-on experience, training and mentoring.
• for having tasks, when possible, tailored to the intern's educational and career objectives.
• to earn a unique resume credential, a new personal reference, and a high-profile source for a written recommendation.
• to be part of a select group of over 40 past interns who have gone on to careers in the legal, entertainment and arts fields.
