The? Senior Director, Digital Media Streaming & Operations - is a key member of the WWE team responsible for all Live and VOD media delivery as well as monitoring, tracking, and driving quality improvement of video delivery across WWE's digital platforms. This role is key to WWE's success in delivering direct-to-consumer video solutions. The ideal candidate has a background in audio/video production technologies, video compression technologies, and knowledge of various live media delivery protocols and video player technologies. Key Responsibilities:
• Serve as operational lead for day-to-day and VOD and Live streaming operations and media delivery
• Evening and weekend working times as required
• Monitor and escalate streaming performance and other technical issues as appropriate
• Track and monitor digital performance / quality, and drive improvements for video quality across all platforms
• Active monitoring of live encoding appliances during marquee events
• Lead Live WWE Network streaming operations for all Live Events, including active monitoring of live encoding appliances during marquee events
• Collaborate with product, technical, and operational teams to determine business and technical requirements for new product delivery as it pertains to video streaming and media delivery
• Review and recommend emerging technologies as appropriate to support ongoing and future development efforts for WWE's Live and VOD media delivery
• Design, configure, and implement video encoders, storage infrastructure, DR and redundancy, and CDNs to deliver media content
• Lead the operational support team of video and audio live encoding appliances
• Escalation point and subject matter expert for troubleshooting of encoding platforms
• Deployment and daily management of VOD and Live encoding and streaming appliance
• Attract (hire and grow), retain, and develop the team per the needs of the business
Required skills:
• BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience in target-date driven environments preferably in the - Television/Broadcast, Digital/Media, Technology, or related industry
• Managerial/supervisory experience (i.e. people management)
• Advanced knowledge of broadcast transmission and Video compression codecs
• Advanced knowledge of video delivery over the leading content distribution networks (e.g., Akamai, Verizon, Fastly, Level3, etc.)
• Advanced knowledge of IP video delivery protocols (HLS, MPEG-TS via multicase, RTMP, DASH, RTSP)
• Advanced experience configuring and operating an enterprise encoding solution (e.g., Elemental, Telestream, Wowza, etc.)
• Understanding of IP networking
• Understanding of media formats on mobile, tablet, desktop, and OTT devices (Web, SmartTVs, AppleTV, Roku, iOS, Android, Game Consoles)
• Knowledge of live acquisition and OTT encoding distribution workflows for live events and linear channels
• Working knowledge of current video players (e.g. VideoJS, JW Player, Adobe Primetime, etc.)
• Able to quickly identify and resolve issues in a live production environment
• Able to work overtime including evenings and weekends as needed to support the business
• Excellent written and verbal skills
• Attention to detail and a commitment to product quality
• Highly collaborative team player that thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
• Knowledge of SDLC; Agile Scrum preferred
