WWD: Temporary Social Media Manager
WWD is looking for a social media manager with 3-5 years' experience in journalism, social media strategy and collaborating on projects that involve social media, audience growth and reporting. You will also work with reporters and editors across the newsroom in how social media and readers' voices can inform our journalism, both pre and post publishing.
In this role, you'll be responsible to target our journalism, ranging from articles and images to videos, on key platforms. You'll be key in building WWD's presence on major social platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube, as well as emerging ones.
This role is an integral part of the large WWD team of editors in NY, Paris, London, Hong Kong, Milan, and LA- and a highly collaborative one that thrives on teamwork. Excellent writing skills are a must. We're looking for someone who is very organized, has innovative ideas, a strong work ethic and someone game to work in a competitive environment where a breaking news story can change your entire day.
Responsibilities:
• Leading WWD's main presence on Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram: providing coverage of breaking news and live events, conceiving and executing innovative social plans
• Responsive to breaking news
• Develop social-oriented franchises in concert with overall editorial initiatives
• Manage social calendar
• Create monthly analytics reports
• Work with WWD reporters and editors to attend interviews, shoots, etc. to create social content of their stories
• Liaise with Ad Sales team to schedule and post sponsored social content
• Deadline and detail oriented
• Team player
Requirements:
• 3-5 years of experience in social media or digital journalism
• Deep understanding of all mainstream and some emerging social channels
• Consistent record running Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for major media outlets
• Demonstrated interest in visual storytelling
• A passion for fashion, beauty and retail news and a dedication to WWD and its longstanding journalistic mission
• Skill at bridging specialties, including reporting, editing, product, analytics, design and user research
• Strong writing and editing skills
