Wondros is a collective of storytellers, strategists, innovators, designers, artists and doers in the service of ideas that inspire passion to incite action and propel change. Wondros' portfolio includes projects for organizations like Open Society Foundations, the National Institutes of Health, the University of Pittsburgh, MD Anderson, The Getty Foundation, The Guggenheim Museum, and TED, as well as film production for innovators such as the Clinton Global Initiative, IBM, the Council on Foreign Relations, MIT Media Lab, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
We are seeking a staff Assistant Editor to join our growing post-production team. We're looking for a dedicated, hard-working person who is passionate about the work we do. This is an excellent opportunity for a long-term position to grow within the company.
Responsibilities:
- The AE holds primary responsibility for managing all footage throughout the lifecycle of a project.
- Download, transcode ingest, log, sync, and organize footage in a project for editors; export interviews for transcription; ensure B-roll is appropriately logged and labeled.
- Work directly with editors and assist them however necessary - for example, pulling selects, sourcing b-roll or music, or troubleshooting technical issues on projects
- Work with stock footage and music libraries to find high-quality creative content to match the desired aesthetic of each film
- Prepare sequences for finishing, e.g. onlining edits and making the proper exports for sound mix, color grading, etc
- Marry elements from finishing vendors and QCing to make sure all is correct
- Generate appropriate file formats for distribution or to delivery spec and upload to appropriate distribution channel
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years experience in similar position in high-volume, high-pressure environment
- Expertise in Adobe Premiere and Adobe Media Encoder, and experience with other Creative Cloud applications such as After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator
- Experience with FCP7 and Avid a huge plus
- Solid working knowledge of best practices for Premiere-based Assistant Editing work such as footage ingest, organization, and transcoding.
- Organized and fastidious about file management
- Encyclopedic knowledge of digital codecs and their appropriate applications
- Strong communication skills and positive attitude
- Standard hours are Monday-Friday 9-7, but must be available to work overtime if needed including evenings or weekends
