WITI FOX 6 produces over 55 hours of local news each week and just recently swept the Chicago/Milwaukee Emmy awards. We have an experienced staff of professional journalists and some of the best photojournalists in the country.

This individual must be a superb motivator and communicator in addition to a creative news strategist. Essential duties include newsroom leadership, on-air recruiting, budget administration, personnel development, sweeps strategy, development of social media/online/mobile strategies, and local program development. The News Director will oversee the critique of news product and of on-air personnel. The position is also responsible for maintaining professional guidelines and standards of news broadcasts and staff. The News Director must have a superior understanding of libel laws as they apply to broadcast journalism and an understanding of the professional journalist’s rights and responsibilities. The News Director handles all inquiries and correspondence from the public regarding news matters.

You must have at least 5 years of news management experience and you must get excited about creating compelling content across multiple platforms. Excellent communication skills and great time-management skills, a strong can-do attitude with a commitment to teamwork, and an open and honest management style are all vital for success in this role.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION: The successful candidate will have experience in managing a complex news operation, preferably with 5 years experience as a News Director or equivalent, and a degree in journalism or related field.
